The Regional Store Sales Representative is responsible for developing business and driving sales growth in new and underperforming markets for their assigned region. As we enter new markets, this person will be accountable for developing and executing the new store sales blitz, including partnering with outside resources as necessary. This role is responsible for creating and developing a list of prospects for new markets, coordinating and training, and monitoring of an outside sales team. The position will be on-site for all new store grand openings to support any planned new store marketing activities. This position will also manage assigned projects supporting stores and the store sales and marketing department.
This position is Remote Region Based. One must travel to multiple sites as needed and live within the assigned Region (Southeast) or a bordering state of the physical location.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Drive customer and solution-based selling with customers
• Design, develop and implement regional sales training plan and materials for store pre-opening marketing sales and awareness campaigns
• Execute hands-on partner training (category skills and competencies), Lead sales training of outside sales team to promote customer acquisition by calling on and visiting restaurants, not for profit organizations, churches, and other small business owners in an assigned geographical area
• Develop daily sales routes for each outside sales team member in the given market, identify all internal and external lead sources to then develop a thorough prospect list for each store/market
• Work closely with Sales and Marketing leadership to help understand the needs of each market and create training strategies to meet these needs
• Evaluate strengths and weaknesses to identify training needs
• Oversee training material and suggest improvements
• Choose the most appropriate training method per case (e.g. on-the-job training, seminars, and simulations)
• Work with stores to help grow sales by visiting existing customers and new businesses in the market, sell the company’s products or services to customers within territory
• Travel within sales territory to meet prospects and customers, conduct calls and face-to-face meetings with customers daily to build and maintain relationships with new and repeat customers
• Educate customers on how products or services can benefit them financially and professionally
• Persuade owners and/or managers to sign up for a CHEF’STORE Customer Card
• Maintain records of all sales leads and/or customer accounts
• Monitor the company’s industry competitors, new products, and market conditions to understand a customer’s specific needs
• Review existing sales reporting tools to develop/refine reporting for daily sales calls, acquisition metrics, and conversion to regular buying customers
• Establish and develop relationships with local and regional US Foods distribution center leadership teams
• Partner with US Foods sales and marketing teams to drive sales
• Work with Manager to create an awareness campaign for local delivered customer sales, including working collaboratively with the local US Foods Territory Managers (TMs) to collectively acquire more business for US Foods in the market
• Utilize resources available from broadline to increase customer traffic into the CHEF’STORE
• Collect market intelligence and information management and/or marketing of any pertinent product recommendations/suggestions and any shifts in the competitive environment
• Know the market conditions and competitors’ products, prices, and sales and develop a reporting process to relay this information to management in a structured and consistent format
• Implements the appropriate qualitative and quantitative measures for brand health and channel/customer volume
• Work closely with the marketing department to help build the brand
• Problem resolution management as required
• Responsible for executing specific marketing initiatives and promotions within the assigned geographical area to drive acquisition and promote frequency of shop
• Keep abreast of best practices and promotional trends
• Other duties as assigned by the Sales & Marketing Manager as necessary to achieve overall company’s strategic objectives
QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Training:
• Four-year college degree in communications/sales /marketing related field or equivalent experience preferred
Related Experience/Requirements:
• Must possess a minimum of 3-5 years of experience in sales or another relevant area
• Strong understanding and execution of selling processes
• Proven ability to motivate, inspire and build long lasting relationships within all levels of the organization
• Possess a detailed understanding of selling skills and demonstrate excellent presentation and facilitation skills
• Ability to travel (up to 50% travel) with overnight stays, occasionally including weekend work throughout the year, weekend work will be required for store openings
• Requires the possession of a valid state driver’s license
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
• Must have strong influencing skills and possess the ability to assess situations, address issues, and make sound business decisions and recommendations to satisfy customer needs and drive business
• Be able to downwardly communicate sales process to a team of people and be able to measure impacts in both qualitative and quantitative terms
• Ability to learn and embrace new technologies to support the sales organization
• Self-starter with a high degree of follow through – can own and take tasks through to completion
• Strong project management skills
• Excellent organizational, planning, and strategizing skills
• Ability to manage time effectively and efficiently
• Adaptability to changing demands, priorities, and directions
• Fast learner, detail-oriented
• Proficiency required in the use of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Microsoft Outlook, and internet aptitude strongly desired
Physical Requirements:
• The position will require reaching above shoulder heights, below the waist, or lifting items as required
• The position requirements may also include lifting items that weigh up to 50 pounds
