Responsibilities:
Conducts day to day operations of research projects in the Division of Cancer Control and Prevention, with the Principal Investigator both under supervision and working independently; researches projects to include designing study methodology for human subjects’ behavioral research, epidemiological studies, intervention design and implementation, and other population-based scientific study; assists in all capacities of research projects including study material development, study and intervention planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation; generates progress and final reports as needed; assists in the development of scientific manuscripts, presentations, and grant applications utilizing Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, electronic medical record systems, survey and data collection systems, and data analysis systems; independently conducts background research and literature reviews; performs Institutional Review Board (IRB) protocol development, management, and communication; participates in patient recruitment and administration of surveys/interviews; enters and maintains data into protected data systems; maintains data security and confidentiality; abstracts electronic medical record data and generates reports and analyses; manages project timelines, activities, and documentation; maintains frequent contact with patients via face to face, telephonic, electronic, and written communication; manages timelines, activities, and documentation as well as conducts background research and literature reviews; assists with preparation of publications, abstract submissions, and state/regional/national presentations; assists with preparation of grant submissions and oversight of the PI’s student researchers; participates in relevant state coalitions and task forces and performs additional administrative responsibilities and other related tasks as requested by supervisor; assists in other project-related and administrative responsibilities as requested by supervisor; regular and prompt attendance; ability to work schedule as defined and additional hours as required; related duties as required.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in a public health or social or natural science from an accredited institution as approved and accepted by the University of South Alabama.
Master’s degree in Public Health preferred. Experience in public health or patient services is preferred. Proficiency with statistical analysis and epidemiology methods, mixed methods research, and familiarity with software such has NVivo and EndNote is highly preferred.
