Overview of Job Function:
The Financial Business Analyst Intern will provide support for the Finance organization, including forecasting, budgeting, reporting and analyses. The analyst will gain insights into financial metrics, data collection and analysis, creation of data models to represent business solutions and processes, and Excel and tableau. In addition, the Analyst will also participate in variance analyses, producing regular reporting and should always be looking to drive process improvements and process automation.
Principal Duties and Essential Responsibilities:
Work alongside other members of the Finance team to analyze variances, trends, risks and opportunities, as well as performance against budget/forecast/targets, key business drivers and sensitivities.
Assist in the calculation and posting of general ledger entries for various operating expenses.
Review entries in the general ledger to ensure accuracy and compliance with established accounting principles and procedures.
Perform ad hoc analyses for operational and financial management.
Assist with proofreading critical reporting packages as part of quality control.
Highlight operational performance issues and recommend remediating actions.
Run periodic management reports to analyze monthly financial results, variances, trend analysis, operating results and key metrics.
Help with annual budgeting and forecasting activities to support annual and strategic planning processes.
Work with other analysts to drive changes in forecasting models and methods to increase efficiencies and accuracy.
Minimum Requirements:
Currently enrolled and pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or Economics major
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint)
Understanding the concept of data warehouses and relational data
Strong analytical skills and the ability to collect data from multiple sources, interpret and analyze to report to upper management
Strong excel and tableau (Business Intelligence tools) skills
Strong communication skills, oral and written
Strong time management skills
Ability to understand related financial measures and margin analysis
Ability to work cross departmental with staff level and management level employees to gather detailed information and data for forecasting and reporting needs
Successful completion of a background screening process including, but not limited to, employment verifications, criminal search, OFAC, SS Verification, as well as credit and drug screening, where applicable and in accordance with federal and local regulations
