Summary The Education Technician is responsible for administrative management and clerical support for internal and external customers associated with the medical center’s Education programs. The primary focus on this position will be to process nominations for employee awards and recognition. Responsibilities The incumbent will also assist with other Education programs as needed such as: Assist facility employees with writing and processing awards and recognition certificates. Assist with assigning, tracking, crediting Talent Management System (TMS) courses. Conduct trainings on various education programs. Respond to customer phone and electronic inquiries with high sensitivity and courtesy. Prepare packets for Continuing Medical Education (CME) approval. Design new trainings. Assists co-workers and supervisor with coordination and correspondence to stakeholders on a variety of Education programs Assist as back-up to New Employee Orientation Coordinator Coordinate meetings and prepare and distribute minutes. Maintain and update Education’s SharePoint, LEAF or other electronics sites. Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-07 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-06. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment. You may qualify based on your experience as described below: Specialized Experience for GS-7: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade (GS-6) in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Skill in using Microsoft Office programs, web-based tools, and other data-collection software programs to monitor and track employee training and education requirements; Managing education databases and programs to include research, design and development of educational spreadsheets, tables and charts; Troubleshooting, setting and re-setting passwords and work order functions related to IT type issues; Working knowledge of correspondence, formats for reports, instructions; directives, personnel and financial management manuals. Updating and maintaining SharePoint resource pages; preparing various types of reports and/or documents ensuring product is grammatically and technically sound. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities.
