Vivid Machines Hiring For Electro-Mechanical Technician at Toronto, ON Full Time

Location: Headquarters are in Toronto.

Term: 3 month contract (Feb to May) with the opportunity for an extended contract/permanent position

How you’ll make an impact.

As an Electro-Mechanical Technician, you will work closely with the engineering team to assemble and test our first commercial version of our Vivid X sensor hardware. The system you help build will be deployed to fruit growers globally!

We’re looking for:

We’re looking for someone talented and fast to assemble and test our sensor. You will be assembling the electrical and mechanical components that go into our high-tech spectral sensor. Your hands-on experience and attention to detail will make you an integral part of the team. If you are looking to grow in a multidisciplinary engineering environment, this is the position for you!

• Post-secondary education in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics or related,
• Minimum of 2 years’ technician experience in a production environment
• Ability to assemble, repair, test and/or troubleshoot complex electromechanical assemblies,
• Experience safely using basic electrical instruments including multimeters,
• Experience in electronics assembly rework with excellent soldering skills,
• Must be a strong team player with excellent written and verbal communication skills,
• Experience reading/understanding Basic Schematics and PCB layouts,
• Able to effectively manage multiple priorities and meet established deadlines,
• Strong attention to detail and will be able to follow the scope of work with accuracy,
• Experience with any ERP software,
• Must be legally authorized to work in Canada without company sponsorship now and in the future.

Bonus Points

• Experience assembling and testing IoT devices and systems,
• Experience designing, assembling and testing PCBs,
• Experience with SOLIDWORKS and the ability to generate and manage engineering documentation is an asset.
• Understanding of manufacturing methods and techniques (Design For Manufacturing – DFM),
• Understanding of relevant codes and standard practices,
• Solid understanding of rapid prototyping methods and 3D printing.

What you will be doing

• Assembling Vivid XV spectral sensors, including all electro-mechanical components,
• Testing the units to ensure the system works as per specifications,
• Evaluating the assembly methodology, and suggesting and documenting improvements,
• Tracking components in our ERP system,
• Work closely with data science, hardware and software teams to optimize the overall product design.
