Remote Agile Implementation Consultant (US east coast work-from-home hours)

Vytal Solutions, Inc. is a boutique consultancy based out of McLean, VA. Vytal Solutions provides project management services to small and mid-size professional services organizations, that serve their US federal and state government clients.

We have grown in the last 12-18 months and expect our growth to continue in 2022 and beyond.

Our client delivery services consist of adapting management frameworks such as Scrum and PMBOK principles to establish a central point to manage the projects. We set up and often administer management processes using state-of-the-art tools such as Microsoft Azure DevOps, Microsoft Project, Atlassian Jira, Atlassian Confluence, Miro, and Microsoft SharePoint. As consultants, we operate in an advisory and support role (not supervisory) and provide leadership. We believe that most teams can benefit from management processes that increase transparency and process automation, supported by tools configuration that allows them to work on the right things at the right time and aligns their day-to-day work with the broader organizational goals.

Our work is generally remote (from home, even pre-COVID-19). However, there might be occasional travel for in-person meetings, working sessions, or to facilitate planning and workshops. Client delivery work is a mix of hands-on support plus coaching and advice on tools and processes.

We are looking for a seasoned professional who can advise, support and be a change agent for our clients who are working to adopt Agile management frameworks in their day-to-day operations. We are looking for an agile implementation manager who can exhibit customer service skills, has a consulting mindset, and has a bias towards action. We are looking for people who can convert a strategy into action.

Your primary responsibilities initially are to support our client successfully adopt Agile frameworks such as Scrum and Kanban, with elements of traditional project management. You will help multiple teams adopt new Agile processes, communication patterns, and associated management tools into their daily work. In this position, you’ll help apply core Agile principles to ensure consistency across projects while guiding teams on where they can tailor their approach to fit their circumstances. You’ll be working with our Agile Implementation Lead, an Enterprise Agile Coach and Scrum Masters to support application of Agile practices and principles. You will keep teams new to Agile focused on improving quality and removing waste, i.e., re-work, towards the company’s goals. As a consultant, you will use persuasive power to compel others into action using a servant-leader mindset.

You would have hands-on Project Management experience and have transitioned to using Agile methodologies over the years.

The skills that we seek include:

• 7-10 years of Project Management experience
• 2-5 years of Scrum Master or equivalent experience
• Knowledge of Kanban is a plus
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Project or equivalent scheduling tool such as Deltek Open Plan
• At least 1-year experience of with Atlassian Jira or Microsoft Azure DevOps (ADO)
• Professional Services (Consulting) organization experience is highly desired
• Experience working on federal government contracts is a plus

Our approach is to be proactive and systems and process-oriented. This position requires an individual to be detail-oriented, possess superior written and verbal communication skills, have good organizational skills, and demonstrate initiative. You will be working with, and therefore should have experience in a scheduling tool such as Microsoft Project or Deltek Open Plan, Agile management tools such as MS Azure DevOps, or Atlassian Jira. While our role is generally advisory and strategic, we often lead by example – “show, teach, do, review”. We might begin in the role of a Scrum Master or PM while the client shadows and then we transition as they take on more and more responsibility. The right candidate will be comfortable both executing best practices themselves, coaching, training and guide others.
