The Waimakariri District Council serves a community of over 60,000 that is experiencing rapid growth with a high rate of development accompanied by corresponding demands on administrative functions. The Council is seeking an administrator to work within the Planning Unit based in Rangiora.
The successful applicant will be responsible for providing administrative support including file management, maintaining reporting systems for tracking resource consent applications, organising meetings, taking minutes, and calendar and email management.
Undertaking the administrative tasks to set up resource consent applications and issue decisions will be part of your day-to-day responsibilities. This role will suit someone with an interest in development, who enjoys interacting with a wide range of stakeholders, and thrives on accuracy and efficiency of information and processes.
We are looking for someone who is a strong team player with exceptional PA and customer service skills, an eye for detail and a “can do” attitude. Being able to prioritise workloads and deal with multiple tasks in high-pressure situations is essential.
An understanding of local government would be useful but is not essential. A minimum of 5 years experience in office administration in a large organisation is required, along with a relevant qualification.
This is a permanent position, at 20 hours per week over 5 days. Additional hours may be required during the first year, while a new system is implemented. Hours will be between 8.30am – 5.00pm each day (to be agreed) but a degree of flexibility will be required at times.
If you have the appropriate skills, experience, and attitude to fulfil the requirements of this position, and you want to be on our team, get in touch because we want to hear from you.
