How you make a difference

The Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) supports the Director of Nursing (DON) in supervising and directing the activities of licensed and non-licensed staff,providingnursing care and other health services to patients assigned to medical-surgical and psychiatric units.Assistsin ensuring that patient care is providedin accordance withfacility policies and procedures,stateand federal regulations, and accepted standards of nursing practice. Collaborates with other healthcare professionals toprovidea safe and therapeutic environment for patients.

Key Responsibilities

• Plans, develops, and supervises nursing personnel and services to patients at the facility.

• Oversees nursing systems, ensures consistent care delivery, andmaintainspatient rights.

• Shares responsibility for selecting and appraising nursing staff and conducts rounds on all units throughout the day.

• Assistsin ensuring resident safety, coordinates orientation training, and prepares reports.

• Advocates for PI, risk management, patient safety, and infection control principles, and serves on clinical care committees and task forces.

Qualifications & Requirements

Education

• Graduate from an accredited school of nursing

• BSN preferred.

Experience

• Minimum of two years’ experience as a Nursing Supervisor, ChargeNurse,or other supervisory level position in correctional, psychiatric and/or medical surgical nursing.

• Must be able to pass andmaintainclearance for a Public Trust Position, if working with specific patients.

Licenses/Certifications

• Must have a current, unrestricted license to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the state ofemployment, orpossess a multi-state compact license recognized by the State of employment to practice professionalnursing.

• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
