World Vision is hiring a SPIR II Senior Research and Learning Coordinator to serve on the Evidence and Learning team within the International Programs Group.

Location: Remote, from 37+ States within the United States

Reports to: Research, Learning, and Analytics Manager

Work Authorization: Must be authorized to work in the USA for any employer.

Travel: Domestic and international travel required, at least 15-20% of time both in development and fragile contexts.

01 The Job: The Senior Research and Learning Coordinator will be hired to manage Research and Learning (R&L) for the SPIR II grant (USAID) in Ethiopia. Strengthen PSNP Institutions and Resilience II (SPIR II) is a 5-year USAID/BHA funded Resilience Food Security Activity (RFSA) led by World Vision and includes consortium partners CARE, ORDA and IFPRI. World Vision and its partners will create a strong, shock responsive ecosystem of public, private, and community level actors to support PSNP households to graduate from poverty and sustain income and food security gains in 17 targeted woredas in Amhara and Oromia regions. The grant will have a robust learning agenda and will be a significant contributor to national level discussions pertaining to the safety net (PSNP). This role is funded for two years.

02 Your Responsibilities Will Include:
Implementation of SPIR II Research and Learning (R&L) Agenda:

• Ensure implementation and uptake of the R&L agenda by: 1.) Leading and/or managing research studies in alignment with the agenda, and, 2.) Support the development of processes that facilitate effective dissemination of research learning through formal and informal channels. Ensure messages are tailored per audience.
• In collaboration with the broader FSL Food Security and Livelihoods sector team at WVUS, ensure that research evidence and learning contributes to the development of technical branding and technical approaches used for programming.
• Carry out critical knowledge management efforts to capture, document and integrate lessons and knowledge into the program.

Research Management and Technical Leadership:

• Manage primary and secondary research and/or oversee quality of research done by other partners in the consortium in alignment with R&L agenda for SPIR II.
• Serve as a technical resource for World Vision to incorporate research learning into the program (e.g., by leveraging DME processes).
• Identify, analyze and summarize evidence coming from the various sources in the program. Where possible and beneficial, leverage other evidence produced by WV entities to fulfill and complement WVUS SPIR II needs for evidence around impact.
• To the extent possible, ensure that research standards and processes are aligned with and/or build on USAID and WVUS DME and research standards and processes.
• Ensure alignment of research standards and processes to the Minimum Standards for Gender Equality Mainstreaming.

Content Creation:

• In collaboration with DME specialists, develop the capacity of WVUS International Programs Group (IPG) teams for implementer-led, real-time data use for systematic, context sensitive adaption of interventions during project life-cycles

Analysis, Sharing and Communicating Research and Learning:

• Create evidence and learning content that can be used for marketing and brand-positioning purposes
• Support IPG teams to enhance their understanding of WV’s programs and facilitate their ability to demonstrate results to existing and potential donors.
• Share findings and lessons learned within WVUS and WVI through dissemination of technical reports, data summaries, info graphics and other innovative presentations.
• Represent WVUS and its research findings and learning to external forums and networks for Research and DME practitioners.

• Technical Skills:
  • Ability to manage and oversee multiple research activities, and draw out learning and insights relevant to SPIR II programming and WV implementation activities more broadly
  • Provide quality control/quality assurance routine checks on research-related data outputs and ongoing data activities
  • Proficiency using quantitative statistical software like STATA (preferred), R, SPSS, Qualtrics (intermediate to advanced)
  • Proficiency in one or more qualitative data analysis software like NVivo, Dedoose, etc. (any level)
  • Proficiency in one or more data visualization software like Tableau, R, Visme, Excel, etc. (intermediate to advanced)
  • Proficiency using ArcGIS (any level)

04 Education and Experience:

• Master’s degree in International Development or a related field, with a focus on livelihood/agriculture/resilience or behavior science. Doctorate degree preferred.
• At least five years of international development work experience with some field experience, with at least four years of work experience in social science evaluation and research methods. Preference for experience in implementation science.
• Knowledge and experience in using Collaborative, Learning and Adaptation (CLA) framework from USAID, strongly preferred.
• Knowledge and experience working with Learning Agendas (and connecting research design and output/interpretation to these Agendas)
• Gender analysis experience preferred. Experience developing academic coalitions for research preferred.
• Experience in innovative evaluation and research methodologies, and strong skills in complex study designs, preferred.
• Experience publishing academic papers and/or thought pieces, blogs, reports etc.
