York Region Hiring For Inventory Control Coordinator at Newmarket, ON Full Time

POSITION PURPOSE

Reporting to the Program Manager, OMM Process Optimization & Analytics is responsible for the daily operations of the Branch stockroom and maintenance of inventory levels; also responsible for purchasing, shipping, receiving, stocking maintenance, repair and operations (MRO) inventory, parts and assets as required; conducting inventory counts, including processing and tracking of invoices; maintaining invoice information in an enterprise asset management software system such as Maximo and a financial management system such as PeopleSoft; conducts vendor sourcing and maintains rotating stock through purchasing (e.g. large motors, pumps etc).

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

• Coordinates activities to ensure timely and cost effective requisitioning, purchasing and receipt of necessary goods, tools, parts, supplies and equipment related to inventory items or minor services for the Branch.
• Conducts research, evaluates findings and make recommendations on procurements matters for tools, parts, supplies and equipment related to inventory items or minor services in consultation with Branch management staff and the Procurement Office.
• Researches product suppliers and evaluates products and capabilities to ensure the needs of the department are met.
• Responsible for the Inventory System within the Material Management Program by assisting with development and utilization of practices, procedures and processes using existing software.
• Inputs new inventory items and maintains accurate and update to date inventory records into MAXIMO inventory system.
• Works with branch teams to manage obsolete or excess materials (vendor returns).
• Liaises with internal stakeholders, Branch staff and suppliers on purchasing matters.
• Responds to inquiries, resolves issues and concerns or escalates, as appropriate.
• Performs daily checks and associated paperwork to ensure that the forklift and pallet trucks are operated and maintained in good working condition.
• Performs other duties as assigned, in accordance with Branch and Department objectives.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Successful completion of a Post-Secondary Certificate/Diploma (1 year or more) in Business Administration, Purchasing or related field or approved equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Minimum three (3) years’ work related experience in a computerized inventory control environment, shipping and receiving industry.
• Knowledge of general procurement guidelines and/or purchasing experience such as legal, customs, freight, government regulations, etc.
• Valid Ontario Class “G” driver’s license free of serious offences under the Highway Traffic Act.
• Valid Forklift Operator license.
• Knowledge of maintenance repair in electrical, mechanical and instrumentation.
