This is a posting for a term part-time position at 60 hours biweekly from March 13, 2023 to October 15, 2024, and is restricted to employees currently working within the Dawson Medical Clinic at the time of posting.

Community Nursing provides specialized programming designed to meet the unique needs of our Northern, Yukon communities. We are recognized for our commitment to excellence in the provision of rural and remote, primary, and public health services throughout Yukon.

As Medical Office Assistant with the Dawson Medical Clinic, you will form part of our high-performing team of compassionate people, dedicated to serving with respect and purpose. Through your role you will provide medical office reception and assistant services to ensure effective and efficient support to our programs, services, and activities. You will work closely within a team environment to support health professionals and clinic clients while ensuring legal and ethical bounds of client confidentiality are maintained. You are someone who thrives in a collaborative environment, manages competing priorities, and executes with impeccable attention to detail.

Essential Qualifications

• Recent experience working in medical office assistant role providing administrative support services using both computer and/or paper-based formats
• Experience facilitating direct patient care, such as: taking vitals, performing urine and pregnancy tests
• Experience using electronic health record systems, such as Plexia
• Medical Terminology Certificate or training is considered an asset

Candidates should have and may be assessed on:

• Interpersonal skills with a commitment to client care and customer service
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and manage highly sensitive information
• Proficient written and oral communication skills
• Organizational, scheduling and time management abilities
• Proficient in the use of computers and software such as: MS Word, Excel

Conditions of Employment

• TB Screening
• RCMP with Vulnerable Sector
• Yukon Class 5 Drivers Licence

Job Requirements

• Must be able to lift 30 lbs.
• Travel within or outside Yukon
• Occasional need to work outside regularly scheduled hours
