Claims Recovery Senior Specialist

Zurich is currently looking for a Claims Recovery Senior Specialist.
This position may work out of one of the following North American offices : Schaumburg, IL; Dallas/Addison, TX; Rancho Cordova, CA , under moderate supervision, evaluates legal liability and aggressively pursues, negotiates and resolves subrogation collection. When on-site investigation is necessary, secures additional information/investigation from referring office. Communicates with insureds, witnesses, attorneys and underwriters to obtain/provide the necessary information. Works within specific limits and authority on assignments of moderate technical complexity. Prepares, reviews and approves data input into the Loss Accounting System. Handles multi-line and multi-jurisdictional losses
Job Accountabilities:
Interacts effectively with claimants, principals, agents, witnesses and attorneys in order to effectively complete investigations and collect assets due the company. Interacts with national/local regulatory bureaus as needed.
Recognizes and responds to business opportunities by finding and implementing new resources and evaluating collection practices for ways to increase efficiencies.
Reviews bonds, accounting records, invoices and other required material during the investigation and recovery effort and notifies appropriate parties of outstanding issues as needed.
Networks with other teams, maintaining good communication and information sharing. Makes the best use of resources available to ensure comprehensive solutions to collections issues.
Prepares reports outlining investigation findings, analyzes cases and recommends appropriate course of action.
Recommends and/or implements collection process improvements, integrating new concepts, approaches and attitudes while remaining focused on goals. Monitors and controls expenses incurred on claims and salvage cases.
Conduct due diligence on transactions and processes in order to determine the risk profile in compliance with relevant regulations applicable to claims recovery and salvage.
Independently collate and analyze data using pre-determined tools, methods and formats and make recommendations in order to support the timely completion of claims recovery processes.
Assess and evaluate claims handling processes in order to identify opportunities for improvement.
Review assigned customer cases, prioritize case load and interpret established policies, applying discretion within authority limits in order to resolve claims recovery issues.
Provide specialist advisory support to internal clients on a daily basis, by being a focal point of contact, to ensure that there is no misalignment between policy and practice.
Assess and appoint claims recovery vendors within agreed authority limits aligned to the organization´s Claims Vendor Management strategy.
Monitor and review financial information, updating where necessary in order to identify any anomalies or discrepancies and ensure management has access to up to date and accurate information to understand claims performance.
Conduct due diligence on transactions and processes in order to determine the risk profile in compliance with relevant regulations applicable to claims in own area of work.
Independently collate and analyze data using pre-determined tools, methods and formats and make recommendations in order to support the department’s timely resolution of claims.
Assess and evaluate claims handling processes in order to identify opportunities for improvement.
Review assigned customer cases, prioritize case load and interpret established policies, applying discretion within authority limits in order to resolve customer issues.
Provide specialist advisory support to internal clients on a daily basis, by being a focal point of contact, to ensure that there is no misalignment between policy and practice.
Identify day to day capability gaps, mentoring claims operation staff and seeking out resources to resolve performance issues to fulfill the customer proposition.
Additional responsibilities will include:
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree and 2 or more years of experience in the Insurance Industry areaOR
High School Diploma or Equivalent and 4 or more years of experience in the Insurance Industry areaOR
Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 2 or more years of experience in the Insurance Industry areaAND
Experience with Microsoft Office
Knowledge of commercial lines insurance including jurisdictional laws
Knowledge of insurance regulations, markets and products
Microsoft Office experience
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working on claims in line of business
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Strong analytical skills
Organization and detail-oriented skills
