Join the AAP Marketing Analytics Team and start reimagining the future of automotive retail. Disrupt the way consumers buy auto parts and take on the industry’s biggest challengers to execute on AAP’s top-down commitment to digital expansion.
As an Associate Data Implementation Engineer at Advance Auto Parts, you will have an opportunity to disrupt a $150B auto parts industry to bring better and faster solutions to customers. You will be part of creating an elite E-commerce experience, helping the company live its mission of “Advancing a World in Motion”. The role will be part of a merit-based organization with a culture of professional growth and development, promoting from within, and emphasis on the latest tools, platforms, and technologies.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Manage the implementation and maintenance of client-side data collection for Digital Analytics tools (Google Analytics, Kochava, Firebase, etc.) to best track marketing efforts to determine brand and campaign effectiveness.
Pro-actively identify any outages that could result from tags not firing, tags taking too long to fire, and provide support on resolving issues working closely with IT and Data Engineering.
Work as a business liaison with Product Owners, Channel Owners, Data Engineering, and Marketing teams to decipher business analytics requirements for new features or updates and deliver implementations which meet those requirements.
Provide recommendations on best practices and new insights on ways AAP can track and utilize customer behavior data.
Be an expert at using Google Analytics to identify channel performance issues, uncover underlying trends, and develop insights for Senior Leadership.
Develop daily/weekly reporting and dashboards to monitor business performance (e.g. channel conversions, unique visitors, funnel drop offs, etc.).
Influence stakeholder decisions by surfacing fact based recommendations from tools such as Quantum Metrics, Google Analytics, and Namogoo.
Mentor junior associates and serve as a technical lead on solving complex challenges.
Present analytical and testing findings to senior leadership and gain their buy in.
Pro-actively identify and prevent any eCommerce outages that can result from inaccurate and obsolete tagging and quantify the financial benefit.
Develop a 5 year tagging roadmap for the enterprise that includes all websites (DIY and Pro) and all channels (Web and App) with the goal of improving speed and increasing uptime.
Design, implement, and document customized analytics and digital tagging/tracking specifications for digital content maintained and updated by Marketing (Landing Pages, Promo Banners, etc.).
Oversee, build, and maintain JavaScript via tag management systems such as Tealium and Google Tag Manager, including QA and UAT activities.
Execute digital analytics tagging assessments to verify stability and accuracy of client-side data collection and marketing integrations and support organizational governance activities related to tag management (example: changes in privacy policies i.e.: CCPA and GDPR).
Diagnose issues with existing platform configurations and tags, and provide recommendations for improvement.
Develop and publish Tag Management metrics using Observepoint, ensure tag audits are conducted and results published on regular basis, track and manage all tag requests (internal and external) end-to-end.
Maintain robust documentation of tag management architecture and solution design.
Coordinate data ingestion feeds and web/mobile app tag updates while ensuring data quality and accuracy.
Handle data preparation portions of various projects to support Analytics Team when necessary.
Ensure successful delivery of projects/requests; provide status updates to internal and external stakeholders.
Document tests, analysis, findings, and recommendations in Confluence/Sharepoint.
Partner with digital analysts, marketing managers, data engineers, encouraging collaboration and driving projects forward to achieve goals.
Gather stakeholder requirements, develop opportunity sizings and business cases, write technical or functional specs when necessary.
Develop timeline, set and communicate deadlines for key tasks assigned.
Represents the project at meetings, scrum standup calls and/or in group discussions as requested.
Uses change control procedures to effectively protect and manage the scope of the project or task.
Identify and collaborate with IT, when their involvement is needed for any tags/pixel implementation outside of scope for Advance AI.
Validate and debug tags on a regular basis; remove outdated tags regularly.
Demonstrate an understanding, and proactivity in seeking cutting edge innovative solutions for implementing code to capture the desired metrics and solve business problems.
Keep up to date with competitor information, tools, best practices and market trends; identifying business opportunities for organization.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering or another relevant field.
4+ years’ experience with Enterprise E-commerce Analytics tagging or implementation.
Experience with Web Analytics Tools (Adobe Analytics or Google Analytics).
Experience with Tag Management Tools (Tealium preferred).
Proficiency with quality assurance testing of analytics data collection from websites and native mobile applications.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience implementing code to serve experiences within a/b testing and personalization tools such as Google Optimize or Launch Darkly.
Experience designing, implementing, and managing data within a data layer.
Experience implementing tags within single-page web applications.
Knowledge of JS frameworks and libraries, preferably React
Experience deploying and supporting code in production environments
Solid understanding of HTML and the DOM
