The Product Development Director position is responsible for the day-to-day management of the Product Development Department to include development of AIG Programs’ products (rates/rules/forms), monitoring updates to Bureau products leveraged by the Division (e.g. ISO, AAIS), and product implementation for Divisional products on both AIG Programs’ systems and on the systems used/maintained by Program Administrators. Specific responsibilities include:
Coordinate new product development and/or existing product enhancement idea generation, including participating in new Program opportunity assessment meetings, existing Program Stewardship meetings and internal meetings with other AIG Divisions/business units to leverage and/or adapt products being utilized by other parts of the organization.
Proactively identify product/Program enhancements to help improve Program penetration, competitive market position and profitability. Communicate these enhancement initiatives to Programs Senior Management, Product Line Officers and Production Staff. Work with Program Administrators to identify and deliver product development initiatives.
Develop and incorporate branding of Program products and drive brand recognition initiatives to enhance competitive position of Program Administrator product offerings. Partner with AIG Marketing area to develop branding/marketing collateral and with Program Administrators and Production Staff to develop/implement launch strategies for Divisional and Program-specific products.
Engage and integrate Product Line Officers, Claims, Legal, Actuarial and other AIG Division’s product staff on emerging product rating and coverage form issues/challenges for internal discussion and strategies for resolution.
Manage the Product Development staff in their daily workloads and help to prioritize tasks, projects and related initiatives to maximize resources, ensure the proper product development/filing sequence and achieve target deliverable dates. Foster open and frequent proactive communication between the Product Development Department and its customers/stakeholders.
Manage the intra-departmental relationships, dependencies and coordination necessary with Production Staff, Product Line Officers, Legal, Actuarial, Operations, Information Technology and AIG State Filings to achieve desired results and manage deliverable expectations.
Create and/or enhance the operational framework, documented procedures/SOPs and corresponding controls to improve process and staff efficiency inclusive of maintaining a comprehensive State Filings Procedural Manual and realistic Service Level Agreements (SLAs). Constantly seek speed-to-market improvements to help the Division maintain its competitive market standing.
Facilitate finalized product implementation in AIG managed systems and provide coverage form and business logic/attachment specifications for desired system output/behavior. Perform related high-level business-testing and approval of Product Development initiated system implementation requests.
Manage the communication and implementation of product approvals in Program Administrator managed systems. Oversee the uploading of approved product materials to Program Administrator Website.
Manage the maintenance processes required to organize and retain all pertinent product/filing information in a centralized repository accessible to staff within and outside of the Division.
What we’re looking for:
Experience:
10+ years of relevant experience in commercial property/casualty insurance
Working knowledge of ISO Commercial Lines products and package policy structure
Bachelor’s degree preferred, will consider insurance designations in lieu of degree (CPCU, AU, ARM, etc)
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc
Strong research skills using AM Best State Filings, RateFilings.com, SERFF, etc
Effective oral and written communication skills
Excellent organizational and project management skills
Team player
