We are looking to engage a highly experienced individual to join the Data science team, providing their data engineering technical expertise to compliment the Analytics evolution at ASB. This individual will work collaboratively with the teams within Analytics and Insights to deliver data pipelines to drive Analytics projects from inception to implementation.

Second to this a focus on utilising our evolving big data platform and enabling the use of advanced analytics technics to answer business problems in new and innovative ways.

This role will sit within the Data science chapter and provides support across all of the Analytics and Insights teams.

As a highly motivated and analytical minded Data Engineer, you will:

• Work collaboratively with the Analytics and Insights teams to deliver data pipelines to drive projects from inception to implementation.
• Ensure the solution design aligns to strategic roadmaps with a focus on utilising our evolving big data platform and enabling the use of advanced analytics technics to answer business problems in new and innovative ways.
• Ensuring that code is optimised, adheres to good coding practice, version controlled and able to be productionised.
• Maintaining a catalogue of Datamarts, Data flows out to external parties, Dashboards created and managed by the team.
• Act as the technical SME in the data engineering space. Constantly look for opportunities to further progress our use of data by keeping up with market research and trends as well as the latest tools and techniques.

You will bring:

• Demonstrated experience in database design, data curation, data wrangling ability from a variety of structured or unstructured sources.
• Advanced T-SQL including optimisation and productionising queries.
• Commitment to good coding practices and a sound understanding of Git version control.
• An ability to master new tools as required.
• Knowledge of Big data platforms including cloud vendors such as Azure, GCP or AWS and languages such as R, Python and Scala.
• Experience with some of the following big data technologies: Snowflake, Near-Real time data streaming through Kafka or similar tools, Apache Spark, Databricks, Containerisation through Docker or Kubernetes, MLOps and MLFlow, Tableau ,Power BI
• Familiarity with statistical and machine learning methods, and a solid quantitative background.
• Experience in data engineering pipeline automation for on-premises and cloud environment.
• Experience with productionising machine learning models in a cloud environment.
• Strong problem-solving capability with a focus on delivery.
• Communication and presentation skills.
