SUMMARY
The Sr Cybersecurity Engineer manages the tools and technology to ensure that BECU detects, responds and recovers from all cyber-security threats and events from an infrastructure and operations (I/O) perspective. This position will evaluate, procure, implement, create and test tools and techniques to harden, maintain, verify, and integrate security and resiliency into all compute and storage platforms in a highly complex environment. This position will implement and sustain a portfolio of hardware and software solutions that provide cyber defenses across the entire spectrum of the cyber-attack chain from data and identity to enabling disaster recovery. This position is focused on advancing solutions to identify, automate, prevent, and remediate beneficial cybersecurity activities throughout the workforce and member-facing services and infrastructure. The Sr Cybersecurity Engineer tests and evaluates end-to end technical and process improvement of all facets of security capabilities and innovation and enacts the efficient and effective use of platform security solutions; including mobile, cloud, and BECU-hosted environments with the overall goal of enhancing and maturing BECU’s cybersecurity maturity.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform all responsibilities in accordance with BECU Competencies, compliance, regulatory and Information Protection requirements.
Evaluate, design, implement, and ensure operations of cybersecurity related tools and services, including troubleshooting, ensuring functionality, and stability. Provide feedback and engagement with peers and management to improve operational efficiency and effectiveness of Cybersecurity services.
Contribute to the enhancement and adaptation of BECU’s Policies, Standards, and Guidelines to support changing threats and evolution of technology in use by the business and Tech across BECU.
Create and coordinate communications among appropriate personnel on all threat, defense, and situational awareness issues and information.
Deliver on a product end-to-end strategy. Identify necessary product and platform upgrades. Contribute to the development of operational execution plans.
Oversee monitoring, alerting, and escalation when necessary of cybersecurity events that are identified, detected, observed, or possible as part of a proactive, defensive cybersecurity team.
Contribute to roadmap and strategy development for control, visibility, monitoring and automated response infrastructure.
Operationalize and optimizes the organization’s security portfolio to achieve performance levels relative to the various compute and storage platforms used (cloud, mobile, on-prem, colo, etc.) based on a digital-first methodology and industry best practices.
Gather, validate and ensure the process is executed to gather prescribed metrics, where necessary, and ensures metrics are validated prior to being incorporated into operational dashboards and reporting. Develop opportunities for new, relevant metrics.
Lead and drive implementation and interpretation of controls and requirements for cybersecurity infrastructure. Expert input to process development for implementation and integration of Cybersecurity tooling.
Provide security related on-call support, as defined by standard operating procedures. Participate as a member of the Security Incident Response Team.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in Information Security, Computer Science or related field required or equivalent education or work experience required. Advanced degree preferred.
Minimum seven years of progressively responsible experience in cyber security, security engineering, network engineering, computer incident response, systems architecture, digital platform security (cloud), or related experience.
Active CISSP, CISM or equivalent certification required. Additional certifications in cloud technology such as CCSK or CCSP are preferred.
Expert and practiced verbal and written skills required to effectively communicate to senior leaders and stakeholders.
Proficient in evaluating risk in quantitative and qualitative measures.
Excellent conceptual, organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills required with the ability to influence team objectives
Effective critical analysis and negotiation skills required.
Be available on an on-call basis to respond to pending issues or problems arising during non-business hours and provide support and response.
Occasional travel required.
Full time hours required, with additional hours as necessary.
