This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious and collaborative academic to join a vibrant, dynamic and expanding research community. The post-holder will work with colleagues in the School of Education and the Centre for Studies in Culture and Practice in Education (CSPACE) to make a significant contribution to the development of our research in Education. Our research is close to practice and we are particularly keen to hear from applicants who enjoy working in partnerships to make a difference to the communities we serve.
We are proud to promote a cross phase, multi-disciplinary research ethos and currently have four key research groups in the areas of Music Education, Practitioner Education, Children and Families and, Space and Time. Whilst applications are invited from well qualified, established researchers with an interest in any of these fields we are specifically seeking to strengthen our capacity and capability in two key areas: equality, diversity and inclusion; and compulsory education.
We pride ourselves on forging connections between our research and our teaching and the post-holder will make a contribution to teaching on undergraduate and postgraduate programmes as appropriate as well as supporting development of our community of practitioner researchers through the recruitment and supervision of PhD students and other academic training activities.
We are seeking to appoint a well qualified, well-established researcher with a national and international profile and an established track record of publication, external income generation and experience of supporting doctoral students (PhD and or EdD) to completion. As a practice facing research centre we are keen to recruit colleagues with practice backgrounds whose research interests and profile has emerged out of their practice commitments.
We are committed to diversifying our research community and are proud to be part of an £800k Office for Students funded Project ‘That’s Me’ to support access to doctoral study for students from Black, Asian and ethnic minority backgrounds as part of this work we particularly welcome applicants from communities who are currently under-represented in our community.
