Human Resources Department
The City of Portland’s Human Resources Department seeks a kind, thoughtful, dynamic, and self-motivated person to spearhead the City’s diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging program focused internally on supporting, retaining, and attracting City employees. This is professional human resources work focused on the City’s employee-centered diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging efforts.
This position will be responsible for projects such as analyzing the City’s benefits, compensation, communications, discipline, and other systems to ensure that they are equitable across the City’s workforce; developing and implementing inclusion and belonging initiatives to help ensure that employees feel heard and supported in the workplace, connected to their work, and valued by the City; coordinating with the HR Director and departments on recruiting and retaining a diverse workforce; working with the HR team on policy development, training, and implementation; and working closely with the City’s Justice, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Director on workplace trainings and initiatives.
The DEIB Specialist will also have primary responsibility for developing, coordinating, implementing and monitoring the City’s Equal Employment Opportunity and Affirmative Action plans, among other responsibilities. This position will report to the HR Director but will work closely with the entire HR team, individual departments, and the City’s JDEI Director and Office of Economic Opportunity. The right person will be highly collaborative, have excellent communications skills, enjoy taking the lead on new initiatives, be solution oriented, and be an excellent listener. Applicants must have specific experience creating and implementing DEIB initiatives to be considered for this position. Offers of employment are contingent upon the completion of a satisfactory criminal background check.
Non – Union position – Grade C44 – Starting Salary range is $73,097 – $84,733/year, and full salary range is up to $104,216/year.
