The School of Psychological, Social, and Behavioural Sciences seeks to appoint a full time Lecturer in Childhood, Youth and Education to contribute to the provision of high-quality teaching within the School. You will join our highly regarded and innovative team of academics delivering on a range of postgraduate and undergraduate programmes.

The BA (Hons) Childhood, Youth and Education Studies has a strong emphasis on Children and Young People’s experiences of inclusion, social justice, and equality. It aims to give students a broad understanding of children and young people’s educational outcomes by drawing on a diverse range of subject areas, such as social policy, health needs, safeguarding, psychology, sociology, and research methods. Practice experience, employability skills and international perspectives are threaded throughout the course so that students can develop a global understanding of how the inclusion, development, health, and well-being of children and young people are promoted by educational practitioners. You will be expected to recognise the value of these distinctive features of this course and will be committed to developing an exciting, innovative, and research informed learning environment.

We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and highly motivated Lecturer to undertake core teaching, assessment and supporting recruitment activities within the BA Childhood, Youth and Education Studies. You will be expected to deliver on a range of relevant subjects, such as education, psychology, sociology, health / development needs, professional development, and others as appropriate. Knowledge and experience of teaching within primary/secondary educational settings would be an advantage.

You will need a high level of inter-personal skills and personal effectiveness to promote a high-quality student experience for all our students; contributing to high student satisfaction and students’ professional development. You will have a strong commitment to continuing professional development and to inter-professional and international perspectives. You will also have a strong commitment to pedagogical innovation.

Applicants must have a relevant master’s degree or a PhD in an appropriate subject and experience of delivering in an educational setting or if from a Professional Practice background, demonstrate the ability to deliver in an HEI setting.

Coventry University offers academic support and professional development support and provides the opportunity for staff without a recognised teaching qualification to undertake the PgCert in Academic Practice in Higher Education leading to Fellowship with Advance HE.
