StarJam is widely considered to be one of the most inspiring not-for-profit organisations in New Zealand empowering young people with disabilities through music and performance. 

We are looking for an exceptional person who has a talent for bringing out the best in people while co-ordinating all aspects of the Ōtepoti  programme.  This is a work from home position with flexible hours needed around the workshop programme.

About the Position

The Dunedin Area Programmes Coordinator is the key contact for young people with disabilities and their families, the workshop tutors and volunteers in the StarJam community.  This person is responsible for creating a welcoming environment where everyone who attends StarJam feels empowered to be themselves and encouraged to reach their full potential. 

About the role – You will:

• Coordinate and monitor the weekly workshop programme
• Recruit, orientate and support a dedicated team of tutors and volunteers
• Maintain and build relationships with our young people, their whānau and the community
• Be a confident communicator 
• Coordinate and manage gigs, events and other special events
• Grow community connections and fundraise at a regional level to support programmes
• Be an admin superstar with strong attention to detail
• Maintain and oversee health and safety requirements
• Be part of a team that celebrates successes 

 About your qualifications – You:

• Ideally have a tertiary qualification or relevant experience 
• Have excellent oral and written communications skills
• Are proficient in Google and Microsoft and database management 
• Have event management experience and creative flair, design skills a plus
• Have sound administrative skills 
• Easily build rapport with people of all ages and from all backgrounds

This is a part-time role with flexibility on working hours as you will need to visit the workshops across the Dunedin region in the evenings. Some weekend work is required for events. You will also need to have your own transport and current driver’s licence. Immediate start.
