We are seeking to recruit an innovative and experienced Qualified Teacher of the Deaf (QToD) to join our well–established, vibrant and award-winning Additional Resource Provision (ARP) for 22 Deaf Children within Eastbury Community School. Applications will also be welcomed from qualified teachers who are interested in becoming a QToD. Full training and support will be offered for such candidates.
The ARP holds the prestigious titles of TES Overall School of the Year 2021 and Alternative Provision School of the Year 2021 and is building a national reputation as a centre of excellence in Deaf Education.
The ARP aims to meet the children ‘where they are at’ and support them to close the gap and achieve or exceed their potential. We are committed to a total communication approach and a sign language inclusive environment which we believe helps all pupils to develop their communication skills and progress in their learning. We want to give our students the specialist support they need to grow into independent, confident deaf young people able to interact and thrive in both the deaf and hearing worlds. All our Deaf students undertake a programme of BSL and Deaf Studies to support them to become confident and successful Deaf adults able to achieve their potential.
We are an integral part of the whole school community working closely with mainstream colleagues to offer quality inclusion along with specialist support from our professional team to meet the individual needs of our students in KS3, KS4 and KS5.
