We take pride in helping community members with disabilities receive job training and job placement through our Work Solutions program.
As an employment specialist assistant, you will coordinate training and job placement throughout the community at various companies. You will coordinate intake, eligibility, orientation, and follow-up for clients who are in need of education and/or employment services throughout a multi-county territory.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Under the direction of the Employment Specialist and the Vice President of Mission Services, the Employment Services Assistant will:
1.) Perform on-site training and assessment (job coaching) of Vocational Rehabilitation clients participating in both community and facility based work assignments for the purpose of assessing and developing work skills/habits that will lead to the attainment and retention of competitive employment. Work schedule may vary to include first, second, and third shifts and weekends depending on the needs of the client and the employer. May transport clients to job sites. Work sites may be located in Knox, Gibson, Daviess, Vanderburgh, Posey, Warrick and/or other surrounding counties.
2.) In conjunction with employers and the program Employment Specialist, teach necessary job tasks to facilitate the clients’ successful completion of the assigned tasks/skills.
3.) In conjunction with the Employment Specialist, the Employment Services Assistant will teach job readiness (soft skills) and job search techniques to clients to facilitate successful entry and retention in the workforce.
4.) Develop/suggest/implement compensatory strategies/accommodations to enable clients to successfully complete job duties.
5.) Record observations of client work experiences and other relevant job seeking activities and submit to Employment Specialist.
6.) Provide feedback/constructive instruction to clients related to progress on the job.
7.) Encourage and assist clients in the development of natural supports in the work place to facilitate job retention.
8.) Perform clerical tasks to ensure smooth operation of the Goodwill program including but not limited to the following: assembling client files, data entry into client database (CATS), copying, faxing, filing, scheduling, maintaining payroll and billing records and other duties as assigned.
9.) Serve as liaison between host employer and Goodwill.
10.) Assure safety, health, and confidentiality standards are maintained at all times.
OTHER FUNCTIONS:
1.) Assist in the administration of CareerScope, Goodwill Digital Career Accelerator and/or other vocational interest and/or aptitude instruments.
2.) Provide training and assistance to clients in completing job applications, developing resumes, and practicing job interview techniques.
3.) Participate in client meetings upon request of Employment Specialist.
4.) Perform other duties as assigned by the Employment Specialist and Vice President of Mission Services.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1.) High school graduate or G.E.D. required.
2.) Ability to work with people with disabilities in an effective, facilitating and productive manner.
3.) Demonstrate initiative and the ability to carry out job-related activities with minimal supervision.
4.) Ability to type a minimum of 40 wpm or more accurately and operate standard office equipment.
5.) Computer literate and able to use Microsoft Office, and data base applications and the internet.
6.) Ability to read, write, analyze, and interpret information while demonstrating good verbal and written communication and language skills.
7.) Demonstrate excellent organizational and time management skills.
8.) Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive client information.
9.) Ability to contribute, develop and/or adapt to new ideas and methods; demonstrate self-reliance and resourcefulness; show awareness of what needs to be done and good follow-through.
10.) Valid driver’s license, good driving record, and reliable and insured transportation.
11.) Must be available to work flexible first, second, and third shifts and weekends as needed.
12.) Able to pass drug screen and criminal history check.
