Reporting to the National Manager, Certified Pre-Owned – Chevrolet, Buick & GMC, this position is responsible for supporting the Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) program and remarketing operations for General Motors of Canada.
Based in Oshawa, this role will support General Motors in bringing thought leadership to this critical area of the business, while continually growing the business and building on GM’s remarketing and CPO leadership positions. This role works very closely with a cross-functional team.
As the business grows, so does the importance of building residual values and properly remarket vehicles in the marketplace. We are looking for an innovative thinker and dynamic collaborator with a passion for driving results in a lean and agile work environment.
Develop Relationships and work closely with:
GM Canada Rental and Fleet team
Brand and Distribution teams
Auction house management and representatives
GMF remarketing management and remarketing analysts
Rental companies
GM US Used team and remarketing colleagues
MIC organization
GLS and CVO teams
Certified Pre-Owned Brand Building
Play key role in liaising with CPO dealers and working with the CPO Remarketing Advisory Board to continually improve the CPO program and build its recognition Canada-wide.
Support the development of Strategy and Business Plans for a Best-In-Class CPO and Used Organization.
Implement Initiatives to support Residual Value Improvement.
Identify enhancements to the CPO program to maintain competitiveness and performance,
Support the development and management of CPO marketing and advertising plans including;
Dealer standards and vehicle standards
Dealer Co-op plans and administration
Incentive plans and structure
Work directly with marketing suppliers (e.g. Wheels, CarMedia2.0) and partners (e.g. OnStar) on various initiatives.
Manage go to market plans including sub-vented finance and targeted offers.
Monitor CPO Plans include objectives and performance by Region.
Support the field and dealers.
Lead CPO business plan financials.
Provide monthly updates on sales overall CPO performance to Leadership, Regions, Filed and MIC.
Lead the Remarketing and Auction process including Used Vehicle Centre of Expertise
Develop thorough knowledge of the auction and used vehicle markets.
Manage the supplier relationship and processes with GM Financial and auction suppliers.
Ensure auction house administrators adhere to GM Canada guidelines for disposal of vehicles.
Manage the rental return procedure/process as outlined in the rental repurchase agreement.
Execute pricing and auction strategies to maximize auction proceeds for rental and co-cars
Utilize available remarketing tools (inventory reports, dashboards, market indicators, current proceeds and auction insight) to develop auction pricing that will maximize auction proceeds and optimizing residual values.
Implement market driven strategies to ensure pricing is maximized at each auction location. Price according to local market conditions.
Leverage supply and market dynamics to gauge need for live open or closed sales while gauging the impact on inventory and auction proceeds.
Provide recommendations to Retail and Fleet teams to maximize residual values.
Establish price and price strategy with Finance as well as work with Financial team to effectively manage cash flow and profitability.
Develop strategic objectives by generating and reviewing all auction data and advise leadership of trends/opportunities.
Maintain forecast of auction unit volume and sales timing
Additional Job Description
Required Skills and Experience:
University Degree
3-5 years of automotive marketing and sales experience
Proven track record, knowledge, and experience working directly with dealerships and advertising agencies
Ability to partners at all levels of the organization and with vendors/suppliers
Excellent communication and presentation skills
Proven customer-focused approach
Proficiency in MS Excel including creating charts and reports
Flexibility to travel
