The Planning and Reporting Unit in the Strategic Policy and Planning Branch, Ministry of Education is committed to improving experiences and results in the provincial education system. By joining this team, you will play a significant role in leading and supporting the education, early years, library and literacy sectors’ collaborative planning, implementation and reporting processes. A position is available for a Planning and Reporting Consultant. You will apply your expertise in strategic and operational planning, reporting and performance measurement to collaboratively develop and implement planning and reporting frameworks and processes. You will bring strong facilitation skills to support the Ministry and sector in developing, implementing, monitoring and reporting on strategic and operational plans. You will build effective relationships by engaging with internal and external stakeholders to share expertise, gain understanding of sector issues and challenges and support planning and reporting processes. You will identify, anticipate, research and analyze trends and issues to understand the impact on the plans of the education sector and propose options to minimize risk and leverage strengths and opportunities. You will apply effective project planning and management skills to ministry initiatives and to planning and reporting processes to ensure effective use of human resources, risk management and timely completion of deliverables. Your strong written and verbal communication skills will be important in preparing and reports, plans and frameworks, and in working effectively with sector and ministry partners. Knowledge of government planning, reporting and decision-making processes is an asset.
The ideal candidate will have:
Strong facilitation and negotiation skills;
Strategic and operational planning skills;
Project management skills;
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal; and,
Knowledge of government decision-making processes.
Typically, knowledge for this position would be obtained through a graduate degree in a social science, educational administration or a related discipline, or related experience. Ability to speak and write in the French language is an asset.
Travel away from head office will occur approximately 25% of the time.
