INTO University Partnerships Hiring for Online English Teacher Job at Manchester, England , UK Full Time

• Online Academic English Teacher: Role would commence 20th September until 9th December
• Location: As the courses are to be delivered online, you can be based anywhere in the UK.

We have one short term position available for an Online Academic English Teacher for the autumn term.

You will teach on a range of modules on the centrally delivered Online Academic English programme. In addition to the four subskills, this includes exam skills and language development. Each course is a combination of synchronous and asynchronous activities, and all teaching is conducted via Brightspace and Bongo.

Teachers will deliver lessons to international students from different centres and will be required to work with key stakeholders, including progression officers to ensure that students are fully supported with their study plans.

Duties

Teaching:

• Prepare and plan lessons following the scheme of work and materials provided.
• Teach up to 20 hours per week (including tutorials) using Brightspace and Bongo.
• Set and mark homework tasks.

Assessment:

• Take part in marking and feedback standardisation sessions.
• Provide written formative feedback on assignment plans and first drafts.
• Discuss formative feedback in tutorials.
• Provide summative evaluation of assignment final drafts, seminars and presentations.
• Support students when completing online reading and listening assessments.
• Review listening and reading test answers.
• Take part in internal markers meetings.

Admin. and other duties:

• Take and complete online registers.
• Complete online tutorial notes.
• Deliver tutorials.
• Release online weekly activities for students on Brightspace.
• Complete student progress reports.
• Attend all programme meetings and the end of term exam board.
• Be a positive ambassador for INTO.

Experience & Qualifications

Essential

• Graduate status.
• A recognised basic teaching qualification (eg CELTA or equivalent).

Desirable

• A recognised advanced teaching qualification (eg DELTA or equivalent).
• Post graduate degree in Applied Linguistics and TESOL (or similar).

Experience

• Excellent command of written and spoken English.
• Good basic IT skills and the ability to use a VLE for lesson delivery.
• Committed to safeguarding the welfare of young adults.
• Understand the programme goals, syllabus, scheme of work, lesson aims, materials and the links between them.
• Adapt given materials to students’ needs.

Salary: £545 per week, plus annual leave, plus pay accrued.
