The Role:

Iress is looking for a Software Engineer who can join a newly formed team of experienced engineers and product specialists to scale our Financial Markets Infrastructure Platforms to global scale. The platforms take care of critical security and authentication infrastructure in the cloud while giving teams the ability to build and host financial widgets within our flagship desktop and web based trading and market data applications.

You’ll be working in a small, focused team using agile and devops practices with experienced engineers.

What you will be doing:

• You’ll work with a varied stack that includes JavaScript, React, Python.

• Perform software engineering tasks to ensure the highest levels of product quality are met.

• Provide relative estimates for the development effort, validate and improve continuously.

• Build quality software using tools such as JIRA, GitHub, SonarQube, Artifactory etc

• Collaborate with team members in a self-autonomous squad (no bigger than 4 / 5 people) where everyone is involved in product decisions.

• Solve complex problems at scale, developing high-performance, web applications with a global user base.

• Work closely with Business Analysts, UX and Product owners to understand business requirements

• Grow your skills through formal training, lunch and learns, and by attending conferences. We host the occasional meetup too.

What you will need:

• Exposure to web application development using Javascript libraries like Angular, React, Backbone, NodeJS, Cypress or similar.

• Experience with SQL and relational databases.

• Best practice around implementing responsive design.

• Solid understanding of security, web standards and architecture

• Cloud tech such as Terraform, AWS, Docker

• Databases/datastores such as PostgreSQL & Redis

• Github, Buildkite, Artifactory, Datadog, Sonarqube

• Ability to communicate clearly and can explain complex concepts to non technical staff

• Ability to understand both functional and non-functional requirements of a solution that are built for scale
