Flight Data Assistant Airfield Management Services (AFM) is a service dedicated to providing professional, safe, and effective airfield operations supporting the 47th Flying Training Wing (47 FTW),Laughlin AFB, Texas and the USAF leased area of Spofford Auxiliary Airfield. Support to 47FTW is critical due to its role in pilot training. Aircrews and their aircraft are the most important customers, and the airfield and airfield management operations are the first impression of the base for many visitors. It is critical that the airfield be kept at a very high state of readiness at all times and presents a neat and orderly appearance. Both Laughlin AFB and USAF leased lands at Spofford Auxiliary Airfield must be properly maintained, examined and inspected to guarantee military and civilian customers a safe operating environment. Airfield support activities must be conducted in strict compliance with Department of Defense (DoD), USAF, and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) standards mandating safety requirements for military air operations. Periodically accommodate priority airfield operations by opening the airfield early and/or closing the airfield late.

• Maintain situational awareness of airfield activities and overall responsibility for AM section while on duty
• Serve as the representative for the AFM during emergency response situations
• Assess airfield operations/situations, determine operational requirements and imposeairfield restrictions as needed (e.g., closing/suspending operations on aprons, taxiways and runways)
• Conduct and document a shift change briefing prior to signing off-duty.
• Conduct airfield inspections and checks as required
• Monitor and coordinate airfield and aircraft activities
• Process flight plans and other air traffic related data through the national and

international air traffic systems.

• Provide flight following services and initiate appropriate actions when aircraft areoverdue.
• Maintain and process NOTAMs
• Maintain a record of daily events on AF Form 3616 or suitable substitute
• Execute Operating Instructions and Quick Reaction Checklists necessary to perform AM duties and responds to situations requiring immediate action.
• Provide transient aircrew and aircraft support to include processing PPR requests;

coordinating parking areas; and coordinating aircrew transportation

• Provide briefings to base and transient aircrews on relevant airfield operations and

restrictions

• Maintain the flight planning room equipment, maps, displays and publications.
• Conduct random daily AF Form 483 Airfield Driving Competency Card Checks to ensure

compliance

• Disseminate emergencies over Secondary Crash Net
