We are seeking a Utilityworker to join our Western Generation Department in Thompson, Manitoba.
Responsibilities:
- Participate actively and positively in the development of the team and the achievement of the team’s goals.
- Assist tradespeople and technicians in the performance of their duties.
- Assist with rough carpentry and concrete work, grouting and cement finishing, bricklaying, fence erection and building
erection.
- Assist in plant cleanliness, painting, grass cutting, landscaping, maintenance of roads and grounds, and snow removal.
- Ensure that duties performed comply with Corporate and regulatory environmental requirements. Report any incidents or
situations that may be harmful to the environment or in violation of corporate or regulatory requirements.
- Operate simple electrical and pneumatic tools.
- Perform rigging work which will require climbing ability.
- Operate the following mobile equipment as required: cars, trucks, track-mobiles, tractors, front-end loaders, backhoe,
snowmobile, motor boat, powerhouse cranes and other light equipment.
- Assist in the placement and removal of stop logs on forebay and tailrace gates.
- Required to perform grinding duties during the turbine runner repairs and also assist in scroll case inspections.
- May be required to direct and train junior personnel in work engaged in the station.
- This position requires travel by air, and you will be required to confirm that you are able to meet Transport Canada’s
requirements for air travel, as they may be amended from time to time.
- Currently, a number of communities and customer owned premises have a requirement that only those individuals who are
fully vaccinated against COVID-19 are able to enter the community or attend the premises. You will be required to confirm that
you are able to meet those third party requirements.
Qualifications:
- Minimum Grade 10 education or equivalent.
- Required to have a minimum of one year related experience.
- Semi-skilled in the work of the building trades.
- Physically capable of working at heights and in adverse weather conditions.
- Required to travel by all modes of transportation i.e. air, land and water.
- Fully understand and adhere to regulations pertaining to the use of power tools and Corporation safety rules.
- Capable of understanding and following written and oral instructions, plans and sketches of small projects.
- Requires the ability to work harmoniously with fellow employees.
- Familiar with the use of the EAM system.
- Possess a valid Manitoba Driver’s Licence and be willing to obtain a Class II Licence with air brake endorsement.
