Established in 1970, Manukau Institute of Technology (MIT) (Te Whare Takiura o Manukau) has been serving ākonga, students and the communities of South Auckland for over fifty years. MIT is a Business Division of Te Pūkenga, bringing together on-the-job, campus and online vocational education. Together with 16 Institutes of Technology and Polytechnics and 9 Industry Training Organisation our purpose is learning with purpose helping New Zealand move to a vocational education system that puts ākonga, learners in the centre. We are on a journey and this role is crucial to that journey.
Ko te turanga mahi | About the role :
We are looking for a lecturer with the passion and skills to work with our students who are migrants and refugees. You will be providing support and guidance to assist them with their development and confidence as learners. Ideally you will bring a minimum of NZCALNE and CELTA or equivalent, and will bring relevant experience in teaching and working with diverse cultures, ages and abilities and learning styles. You must have proven experience of guiding students to learn through Canvas or similar online platforms and be able to engage with learners face-to-face and online. If you thrive in a collaborative team and pride yourself on your ability to build and sustain relationships with students we would love to hear from you. You need to be organised, flexible and committed to high quality teaching, and equity to ensure students’ aspirations are supported. You will have the ability to provide an effective learning environment teaching English for a fixed term period from 25th of September to 1st of December 2023.This is a full-time role, but we will consider a split into 2 x 0.5 FTE positions.
