The Green Skills Training Academy has recently been established to address the skill shortage within the green sector. We have developed a series of short one day courses that are not being provided elsewhere within colleges or via apprenticeships.

We are now looking to welcome a new person into our team to drive the Green Skills Training Academy, manage the Green Skills Bootcamp project with The London Borough of Hounslow, continue to explore new opportunities and take ownership of training across the wider company

Our courses will be delivered by our inhouse consultants who are experts in their field and active in the industry. We will ensure that course content is updated in real-time as legislation changes and new techniques are adopted.

The courses are designed to teach people essential skills that will increase their awareness in each subject. So far we have:

• Tree Planting & Aftercare
• Ecology Awareness
• Invasive Non-Native Species Awareness
• Oak Processionary Moth Awareness & Removal
• Biosecurity Awareness
• Introduction to Tree Surveying

We have recently partnered with The London Borough of Hounslow and secured Greater London Authority funding to provide a new pilot programme called The Green Skills Bootcamp. Via this new initiative, we will be providing our training courses to unemployed constituents within Hounslow, and helping them secure jobs within the green sector either with us or with other green sector employers. The programme starts in January 2023.

Key Responsibilities

• Launch, develop and be responsible for all aspects of Maydencroft’s Green Skills Training Academy.
• Take full responsibility of the wider group’s training needs, collaborating with HR and managers.
• Be outwardly facing, collaborating with our social media consultant to promote the GSTA and Maydencroft.
• Create and take responsibility of all the new procedures required, collaborating with colleagues so they can help you achieve your goal, such as:

scheduling, booking, payment system;
managing the website;
responsibility of the training rooms;
working with trainers;
communicating with clients and candidates,
managing feedback.

• Working with our industry experts to create bespoke courses and curriculum content, ensuring its up-to-date to reflect developments within the industry.
• Ensuring training and courses are delivered to the highest standard, meeting deadlines whilst adhering to company policies and procedures.
• Working closing with HR on operational recruitment needs and requirements for new courses.
• Working closely with our HSEQ Manager ensuring that courses offered within the training academy are relevant, and information is relayed in a timely manner.
• Developing and presenting training proposals.
• Working with existing Maydencroft employees and their Managers to maintain and arrange internal training needs.
• Working alongside educational bodies to design and create industry relevant and recognised training materials and programme.
• Building solid relationships with educational providers, individual trainers, charities, local authorities and our existing client base to ensure they are aware of the academy, and well engaged.
• Provide an excellent training and learning function for new operational employees, prospective students, existing operational employees and external candidates.
• Coordinating training events.

Essential Skills

• Previous experience as a Training Manager or Coordinator.
• In-depth knowledge of industry training requirements and methods.
• Outstanding organisational, planning, delivery and time management skills, but also be able to ‘stand back’ and think strategically in order to achieve our shared goal.

• The ability to develop relationships with clients.

• Problem solving skills and analytical thinking

• Excellent verbal communication skills.

• Confident in all aspects of IT.

• A belief in our mission, vision and values.

• Have a passion for the environment.

• DesirablePrevious teaching or training background.

• Previous experience of supporting, and leading where necessary, the delivery of certain training courses, depending on your skillset.

This is a full time Monday-Friday position based from our Windsor offices, 22 days holiday entitlement, which increases on employment anniversary.
