Modine Manufacturing Company Hiring for Die Setter at Buena Vista, VA Full Time

Modine Manufacturing is seeking a Die Setter to select dies and complete set up on presses, brakes, circle shear, rolling machine, trimming machine, and automatic stock feeder, using a variety of mechanical tools.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Receive job card from Senior Planner/Scheduler, Press Room Dispatcher, or Supervisor, and locates appropriate die on die rack
• Transport die to machine using powered industrial trucks and manual hand trucks or die truck
• Using a variety of hand tools, sets up machines, including machines with numerical controls, according to print, pattern, or lay-out plate
• Utilize proper safety procedures including safety lockout procedure, safety blocks, etc.
• Upon completing set up, runs first few pieces and checks against prints for first piece inspection approval
• Ensure that all safety guards, light curtains, etc. are put in place and are operating correctly to ensure safety of operator
• Adjust pullbacks after each set up to ensure proper wear by operator
• Must be able to perform complete set ups on all presses, brakes, circle shears, rolling machines, trimming machines, and automatic stock feeders
• Ensure that the immediate work area is free of slugs and hoppers are available for operators
• Report improper equipment operation and defective material to Supervisor
• Record time and production
• Work eight-hour shift concurrently with other plant operations. Periodic daily and weekend overtime as production schedules demand
• Other essential functions as may be assigned

Qualifications

• Requires reading, writing, adding, subtracting, ability to operate overhead crane and powered industrial trucks and manual hand trucks, ability to read blueprints, and following of instructions
• Must be able to successfully master all elements of the training control document for this job
