NExTNet is building the Generative AI stack for the Biotechnology and pharmaceutical industry to supercharge knowledge discovery and decision making. Our mission: organize and integrate the world’s biomedical knowledge and make it accessible.

Our breakthrough: a proprietary AI stack that analyzes disparate and multimodal data (text, sequencing, expression, imaging etc.) identifying patterns, extracting knowledge into a rapidly expanding semantic web, so that humans can quickly find leads buried in mountains of information via an Explainable interface. We do this by leveraging recent advances in software, cloud computing, graph database management systems and large language models.

The scope of the opportunity is massive: we estimate the Total Addressable Market (TAM) just for knowledge discovery within Biotech is north of $45 Billion and growing. There is a tsunami of multi-modal data due to advances in optics, mass spectrometry, single cell sequencing and other techniques (e.g., CRISPR gene editing) significantly expanding our TAM.

With more than 95% of the 30,000 diseases known to mankind having no form of treatment or cure, this is where Generative AI can make the biggest impact.

Who We Are

We are a small team of Machine Learning engineers, computational biologists, designers and entrepreneurs committed to making biomedical knowledge universally accessible to accelerate biomedical discoveries. We build on experience from founding a breakthrough and fast-growing biotechnology company (Mekonos) to our academic training at UCLA, Oxford, Yale, UCSD, Duke, Berkeley among others and working at Apple, Broadcom, Intel and the Defense Industry.

While we’re early in our journey, we are already working with multiple renowned Cancer Centers, growth stage Biotech and Pharma companies and expanding into the European territories. And, we are funded by exceptional investors like Hike Ventures and many Ultra High Net Worth Individuals (UHNWIs).

We are a remote-first company but get together in-person during company offsites in California. We are looking for kind, collaborative and mission-driven teammates who work within +/- 3 hours of Pacific Time.

About you

You are passionate about solving real-world problems by building robust software products. You think deeply about details that go into an interactive UI and truly care about shipping impactful features that enable users to tackle their problems.

Responsibilities

• Design production-quality micro-services to fortify and expand our enterprise software solution;
• Streamline our cloud technology infrastructure (on AWS / GCP) and design optimizations to reduce latency and improve performance (in concurrent and demanding workloads)
• Collaborate with Computational Biologists, ML Engineers and a growing pipeline of Enterprise customers in designing and prioritizing product roadmap.

Technologies that should be familiar: Javascript, React, NextJS, Python, AWS, Google Cloud Platform…

Requirements

• 3+ years industry experience with strong programming fundamentals and the ability to produce high quality, clean and effective code.
• Familiarity with data management, storage systems, cloud infrastructure, serverless applications, front-end frameworks.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, C++, Java
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ready to take on a high level of responsibility as part of a small team that moves quickly.

Nice to have

• Industry experience preferably in fields such as Computer Science, Mathematics, Software Engineering, Physics.

Benefits and Salary

• This is a full-time position and the starting base salary for this position is estimated to be $100,000/year. This estimate excludes the value of any potential sign-on bonus; the value of any benefits offered; and the potential future value of any long-term incentives.
• You will receive generous equity in the company in the form of Restricted Stock Awards (RSAs) that will grant you ownership in the business by meeting certain vesting conditions. These are different from stock options that give you an option to purchase company stock at a specific price before a certain date. You may be eligible for additional generous equity packages as you hit milestones.
• As we raise additional Venture financing, you may also receive bonus and other potential future incentives.
• You will be a part of a world-class founding team that includes a successful serial tech entrepreneur, software and biotech veterans and rising stars in Generative AI. You will learn valuable operating skills, the art of raising capital, scaling sales and marketing across North America, Europe and other geographies, working closely with our customers that include growth stage Biotech companies among others.
