SUMMARY OF POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Responsible for preparation of personnel forms, records, statistics; has access to, and handles highly confidential material in the Human Resources (HR) department. Answers general questions and inquiries in all areas of Human Resources such as hiring and employee relations programs. Completes special assignments and projects as required; researches files for difficult-to-find data. Processes and ensures COBRA letters and HIPPA certificates are issued; assists employees in resolving employment related problems. Provides various other human resources functions, such as: exit interviews, arranging supervisory and management training programs. Works under the authority of direct supervision; exercises moderate-level of discretionary judgment on a regular, daily basis.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS / JOB DUTIES:
The HR Specialist’s position is divided into the following areas of functional responsibility with approximate percentages assigned indicating the amount of time spent on each activity.
40% Processing employee relations data, including on the job injuries, safety programs and Other employee relations related programs.
20% Assisting in all areas of recruitment and relocation of new employees.
15% In-processing new employees, out-processing separated employees.
15% Filing and electronic record keeping of all personnel related data.
10% Coordinating company sponsored, employee events/activities; supporting other departments with special requests.

SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY:
The Human Resources Specialist must possess and demonstrate the following combination of knowledge, skill and ability to perform the essential functions of this position, with or without reasonable accommodation (or accepted alternatives).
QUALIFICATION STANDARDS:
Education: Any combination of education and training, equivalent to an AA degree in Business Administration (HR certification preferred) that would provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the job.
Experience: Minimum 24-months general administrative experience, with additional 12-months related experience specific to Human Resources. Requires experience in several key Human Resources disciplines, which could include payroll, employee benefits, employment, workers’ compensation, safety and/or training.
Safety: 90% inside, climate / noise controlled office, and 10% high noise level machine shop environment; lifting to 25 lbs on occasion. Eye, hearing and Cleanroom protection may be required in the manufacturing areas.
