OTTO Quotes has an immediate opening for a Senior Front End Developer. The Otto Insurance Platform generates, manages, and optimizes quality, ready-to-close, exclusive insurance leads directly to agents and carriers in real-time. We are a digital broker for Auto, Home, Pet, Commercial, and Life Insurance. Our focus is to create the most seamless and unobtrusive user experience from the first click to policy being closed.

About The Role

Our primary work focuses on lead generation for an in-house insurtech platform that has helped millions of people get quotes from multiple insurance companies. Our small core team of engineers have worked across many products. One of those projects is the ground-up creation of the OTTO platform and scaling it successfully over the last few years. This role will work with existing team members to continue the work.

Key Responsibilities

· Maintaining and building documentation for new and existing code

· You’ll be expected to learn the codebase and be an advocate for code quality

· You’ll be expected to learn the product knowledge, and become familiar with terms and phrases used throughout our various products.

· Guiding other developers and helping them grow alongside you.

· Communicating on tickets with your team and engage in conversations to ensure their success.

· You’ll be responsible for delivering quality, well tested code in a reasonable amount of time.

Requirements:

• Minimum 3+ years of experience working with Javascript/React. Years worked isn’t as important as experience gained in the time you’ve worked.
• Strong problem solving skills.
• The ability to think quickly on your feet to react to urgent requests that may come up.
• Very strong understanding of Javascript.
• Experience with unit testing in Javascript (jest, mocha, jasmine, etc.)
• Understanding of the React build process, and concepts such as lazy loading to optimize app performance.
• Familiarity working with APIs and cross origin requests. (fetch, or axios)
• You should have a drive to continue improving your skills, and keeping up with the latest industry changes.
• Familiarity with end to end testing.
