Real Journeys Hiring for Stoker / Boiler Operator Job at Queenstown Full Time

Voyaging on Lake Whakatipu since 1912, the Lady of the Lake commands an admirable presence. And that’s why we only find admirable people to work in her historic engine room.

You will be responsible for hand-fueling the fires and operating the engine & boilers that power the TSS Earnslaw. You are safety focused and you thrive working in a team.

Don’t worry about needing any certificates or experience, we will train you from scratch, and before long you will be getting stuck in anywhere you are needed and be able to assist in all operations of the boat, from decks to dishes.

As long as you are able to get up early on occasion, and are flexible with some weekend and evening shifts, you can do this job. Obviously being good at the end of a shovel would help too…

As part of this role you will:

• Provide fuel for the TSS Earnslaw’s fireboxes
• Attend to the boilers, engines and auxiliary equipment
• Respond to guest queries regarding the history and the workings of the TSS Earnslaw

Skills & Experiences:

• Drivers licence preferred
• Physically fit and hard working
• Proactive and willing to help in other areas
• Motivated and not shy to get stuck in and get the job done
