SMC Corporation Australia and New Zealand Looking for Head of Sales – NZ at Auckland, New Zealand Full Time

We are excited to share an opportunity for a results driven leader for our New Zealand (NZ) sales team, based in Auckland. SMC Corporation is a market leader globally and also the ANZ region in the field of electro – pneumatic and industrial automation. In NZ, we are an OEM with local distribution capability to ensure best in class customer experience. This role is part of the SMC ANZ Sales Leadership team and is responsible for sales in NZ across multiple channels to the market. A strategic focus of the position will be to identify new markets and opportunities in order to grow sales in line with the company objectives.

Reporting to the Sales Director, the position leads a team of sales professionals across multiple branches. The Head of Sales – NZ will be responsible for optimizing sales resources and developing multi-focus sales team capability for driving business results and sales productivity. The role sets the direction and policies for strategic sales activity at the country level and to the individual salesperson and manages the successful execution of these plans.

Providing strong and inspirational leadership aligned with company objectives, this role builds understanding, belief, generates high energy and drives high performance standards throughout the business. Partnering with technical sales support teams and other business functions, the Head of Sales – NZ leads our commitment to ensuring SMC customers find the optimal products and solutions that best meet their needs.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualifications in a technical discipline preferable (Mechanical, Electrical or Instrumentation).
• Minimum of 10 years technical sales management experience (preferably with technical/engineered product & within the industrial sector)

What you bring

• Proven experience in leading a national external field sales team (direct & indirect reports) with significant budget accountability, in a multi-channel sales environment.
• Experience in automation, pneumatics, mechanical or electrical systems.
• Proven successful Sales Leadership results, with demonstrated previous achievement of KPI’s and a natural instinct to strive for success and self-development.
• Experience and capability in dealing with commercial and legal matters at a corporate level.
• Experience and active involvement in customer negotiations.
• Excellent communication skills with ability to adapt communication style to customers, suppliers, head office staff in addition to motivating team to achieve goals.
• Analytical with strong business acumen.
• Proven ability to lead, inspire, motivate and develop capability across a team.
• Plan and execute strategically and tactically to deliver outcomes.
• Competence and experience working with standard industry software tools incl ERP’s, CRM’s and Microsoft based products.
• Current working knowledge of EH&S legislation, local employment law, procedures and best practice.
