The opportunity | Ko te āheinga
As team leader, you will inspire, motivate and coach the team ensuring goals are achieved that contribute to the growth of the Stantec Auckland Transportation business. The role will incorporate involvement with regional and national projects including transport assessments, road safety, transport planning, transport modelling, public transport, and urban mobility. This will require an ability to both self-generate work for the team, and to contribute to projects generated by other transport leaders. Your remit will include brand development within the Auckland market, with a concerted effort to grow our transport planning and traffic engineering capability and profile, particularly through interaction with key clients.
Key aspects of the role include:
• Ensure the Auckland Transport Planning/Traffic Engineering Team operates efficiently and meets (or exceeds) its financial performance targets.
• Co-ordinate project resources and ensure team resources are optimally utilised.
• Provide individual, team and technical leadership coaching and mentoring.
• Assist the Auckland Transportation Leader to build strong peer relationships as well as promote a positive work culture.
• Develop and maintain strong client relationships.
• Assist the Auckland Transportation Leader in the role of client service manager for key clients and identify opportunities to grow the business.

You will have qualifications relevant to transport planning as well as a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience. You will possess experience in leadership/mentoring, managing projects as well as delivering successful project within a consulting environment.
We require someone with a high level of technical skills and experience in transportation and related disciplines. You must have the willingness and ability to be part of a unified and effective team. You will possess highly developed inter-personal skills and have the flexibility and adaptability to participate in projects that span across Stantec’s Transport and Community Development Teams. An advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office with the ability to readily learn and apply new systems and processes is essential.
