Our U.S. Legal Team, based in Denver, is seeking a talented lawyer to join us in a diverse and dynamic role that will have an environmental focus with additional exposure to other legal areas in serving as a trusted legal and commercial advisor for one of North America’s leading energy companies.
Provide legal advice and support for our U.S. businesses and U.S. Environmental, Health, and Safety team covering a broad range of environmental, climate, sustainability, safety, and regulatory issues
Work with state and federal regulatory agencies and support regulatory rulemakings
Support legislative policy development
Manage and oversee litigation
Offer legal expertise to emergency response situations and incident investigations
Develop expertise and provide legal support for employment, labor, and privacy matters
Provide advice on various legislative and regulatory requirements
Proactively identify and manage areas of legal risk, including bringing expertise to bear in supporting commercial transactions, real property issues, construction projects, and business processes

Must-haves (minimum requirements):
Juris Doctor degree from an ABA accredited law school
5 to 10 years of practicing law with experience in environmental or regulatory work
At least 5 years of law firm/private practice experience preferred
Licensed to practice law in the State of Colorado in good standing
Excellent written work product, research, analytical skills, and oral advocacy skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; high emotional intelligence
The ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams
Agile and creative thinker; ability to synthesize a wide range of principles, issues, needs and outcomes; ability to learn new or emerging areas of the law; ability to find practical solutions while balancing legal, commercial, operational, and other parameters

U.S. Legal Team is currently working 100% remote
In mid-2022, plan to transition to hybrid working environment; mix of in-office and remote
Future legal offices to be in our LEED Silver business center building in Commerce City, CO
Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday, with the potential for extended work hours based on business needs

Annual Compensation Range (salary + target bonus) is $190,000 to $230,000 (based on experience)
