Position Overview:
Provides magnetic resonance imaging patient care services at defined levels to patients.
Principal Accountabilities
Assesses and educates patients according to specific department protocols.
Implements MRI protection and safety standards to avoid magnetic risk hazard to staff and patients.
Maintains mandated continuing education requirements.
May be required to train / precept students and new techs.
Operates a variety of complex stationary and mobile diagnostic equipment.
Positions patients and selects anatomic and technical parameters accurately.
Prepares and administers contrast media and/or medications within the accepted scope of practice and applicable state and federal regulations.
Prepares for and assists the physician in MRI procedures.
Required to take call on a rotational basis.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education/ Knowledge, including Licensure / Certification/ Registration :
Education: Must be a graduate of an approved school of Radiologic Technology or MRI Technology.
Knowledge: Must be knowledgeable of MR Imaging parameters. Broad based knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy and physiology is required.
Licensure: Registration with American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT (R) and (MR)) required.
Must be licensed by State of California as CRT.
Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider Certification through the American Heart Association required.
Fluoroscopy license preferred within six months of hire.
Experience :
Skills and Knowledge :
Must be knowledgeable of MR Imaging parameters.
Broad based knowledge of cross sectional anatomy and physiology is required.
Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work unsupervised or with minimal supervision.
Must be able to work in a rapidly changing and challenging environment and take appropriate actions in emergent situations.
Knowledge of English language with strong written and verbal communication skills.
Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
Training skills required.
Basic keyboarding and computer skills.
