In this post you will be part of the leadership and management team for our secondary PGCE courses. The PGCE courses sit within ITT/ITE provision in the Department of Education, Teacher Training and Social Work. You will have teaching experience within the secondary and/or post-compulsory (14+) phase enabling you to teach to a high standard across both core and subject specific modules in secondary computing on the PGCE courses. You will be an excellent communicator who can collaborate with department colleagues as well as those working in partner organisations to ensure that ITT/ITE provision is of the highest quality. You will understand the process of monitoring, evaluation and continuous improvement and be able to contribute to the ongoing development of the provision. As someone who has previously mentored trainees or early career teachers, you will value the role of the school-based mentor and contribute to fostering a mentoring and coaching culture across the partnership.

In addition to this you will contribute to teaching, research and consultancy in the Education and Social Work Department of the School of Social Sciences, Humanities & Law. You will support the delivery of QTS programmes in our partner colleges and organisations and identify opportunities for the development of new programmes and modules in response to current and future demands.

The successful candidate will possess a Masters degree and a good Honours degree in a relevant discipline. A Doctorate level qualification is desirable. The ability to teach at undergraduate and post graduate level, and supervise students on independent study projects, is essential. The successful candidate must have excellent communication and presentation skills, be adaptable to change, and have a flexible approach to working.

The position we are filling is exempt from the provisions of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act and a satisfactory DBS disclosure from the Disclosure and Barring Service is required as part of our clearance procedures.
