The role
We are seeking to recruit a Staff Tutor to undertake the role of staff tutor to contribute to our Advanced Clinical Practice (ACP) provision.
The successful applicant will be required to provide academic input to the ACP programmes and will support the promotion and delivery of the MSc Advanced Clinical Practice which is offered as a standard programme and also as a higher-level apprenticeship.
The post includes responsibility for working as part of the academic team for ACP developing and delivering the ACP modules and for working in partnership with employers to promote the ACP programmes and provide support in recruitment particularly in relation to the to the ACP apprenticeship. The role includes operational management of practice learning relating to the ACP Programmes. They will work strategically, in collaboration with the Programme Lead and Module Chairs, with agencies, employers, and regulatory bodies to ensure compliance with external and internal regulatory requirements.
Staff Tutors are members of the academic staff of the School of Health, Wellbeing and Social Care (HWSC) based in the Faculty of Wellbeing, Education & Language Studies (WELS). They play a vital role in the provision of The Open University’s (OU) supported open learning model of education; contribute to the presentation of modules and qualifications and engage in research and scholarship congruent with School and Faculty strategic priorities. Staff Tutors represent The Open University on national and local strategic groups, provide academic leadership and line manage Associate Lecturers and Practice Tutors who provide academic and pastoral support to OU students.
The postholder will be part of the ACP team and may be home based or based in Milton Keynes. There will be a requirement to travel to other parts of the UK to engage with stakeholders and promote the ACP programmes. We are also able to offer this vacancy as a secondment opportunity.
