Duties and Responsibilities
Applications are sought for a part time Lecturer (Teaching) post to cover teaching from September 2022 until July 2023 in the first instance. The postholder will develop, with support from academic staff and heads of teaching, and deliver education materials in a lecture theatre, teaching lab, field or online to support the various degree programmes in the Division of Biosciences. These include the BSc/ MSci degrees in Neurosciences, Biological Sciences, Human Sciences, Pharmacology and Biochemstry and the BSc Biomedical Sciences plus the MSc Neuroscience, MSc Genetics of Human Disease, MSc Biomedical Sciences and MRes degrees in Biosciences and Biodiversity Evolution and Conservation. There may also be opportunities for module organisation and delivery, and student project supervision to support some degree programmes. It is envisaged that individual posts would support a restricted subset of these degrees, aligned to the individual’s expertise.
The post is part time 0.5 FTE (18.25 hours per week) and funded from 1 September 2022 until 30 July 2023 in the first instance.
Key Requirements
PhD in relevant subject area is essential as is demonstrable comprehensive knowledge in the subject. Proven ability to present complex information effectively to a range of audiences is essential as is the proven ability to engage the interest and enthusiasm of students and inspire them to learn. A postgraduate certificate in Teaching or other teaching qualification is desirable.
