Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity
The Faculty of Education and Social Work is seeking an experienced and efficient Academic Administrator, internally referred to as a Group Services Coordinator to work with our Te Puna Wānanga academic staff, including Te Tumu, so we are seeking an individual who is comfortable working within a Māori context and environment.
Group Services Coordinators support Academic Heads through diary management, coordination of Finance and HR activities, assist with department-specific events, functions and production of department publications. You may also co-ordinate academic travel, visitor arrangements, and managing scholarships and prizes. We are looking for a proactive, self-starter that is comfortable operating in a complex, fast paced, high-level environment.
This is a permanent part-time (0.6 FTE/ 22.5 hours per week) position.

Te Puna Wānanga is the School of Māori and Indigenous Education within the Faculty of Education and Social Work. The school has a national and international reputation in the study of Māori education, along with its links to Indigenous education worldwide.
Te Puna Wānanga staff and students are committed to the promotion of te reo Māori me ona tikanga. We have a Kaupapa Māori philosophy, which underpins all our research and teaching.
He kōrero mōu | About you
You will be a highly organised individual, with excellent experience in an administrative role managing multiple stakeholders and a wide variety of tasks. You’ll also have a can-do attitude, immaculate attention to detail, and excellent organisational skills and the ability to effectively manage a busy workload.
Your interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills will be exceptional, as you will be working collaboratively as part of a high-performing team with an outstanding customer focus for the faculty’s key stakeholders. You may have tertiary experience, have worked for a council or another large organisation and understand the complex nature of how they function.
To deliver to the mahi within Te Puna Wānanga, it is imperative that you are willing to collaborate alongside and within Māori organisations or contexts. While prior experience will be highly regarded, those with the right attitude will also be considered. Te reo Māori me ona tikanga preferrable, though not essential.
