for Campus Visits – Office of Undergraduate Admissions

Job Summary
Serve as a representative of the University of Illinois at
Urbana-Champaign to counsel and advise prospective students, their
families, and high school and community college partners through the
undergraduate admissions and enrollment process. Evaluate applications
for admission and assist with outreach efforts as assigned. Manage a
variety of campus visit programs for prospective and admitted students
as well as the New Student Registration program for enrolling students.
Manage the campus visit needs for the Office of Undergraduate Admissions
(OUA) in attracting undergraduate students to the University of Illinois
Urbana-Champaign.
Duties & Responsibilities –
Recruitment –
Present information to prospective students and families about the
University of Illinois at on and off campus venues.
Travel to designated high schools or college fairs to represent
Illinois.
Serve on one or more Admissions Review Committees, read, and evaluate
freshman application including making final decisions, and chair an
Admissions Review Committee.
Serve as program liaison with colleges, faculty, service departments,
students and student organizations, and community organizations for
registration and visit programs.
Serve as functional lead on Customer Relationship Management (Slate) and
New Student Registration Systems.
Assist in training new and current staff members on presentations and
provide regular feedback to all staff who give admissions presentations.
Provide guidance and oversight for professional staff who hire, train,
and supervise student staff associated with campus visits and new
student registration.
Manage visit programs including reservation and confirmation
information, information sessions, open house programs, campus tours,
and other visit programs for over 40,000 visitors per year.
Manage the reservation, confirmation process, and programming for the
more than 17,000 new students and their families that attend the summer,
fall and spring registration programs.
Prepare presentations and talking points for campus information sessions
in collaboration with the Office of Communication for Enrollment
Management (OCEM). Make updates and edits as needed.
Assist OCEM in the preparation of marketing materials in print and
online that promote campus visit and new student registration programs.
Administrative –
Supervise Admissions Counselor(s) and Coordinator(s) who work with
Campus Visit and New Student Registration programming.
Supervise support front line support staff in Recruitment and Outreach
unit.
Conduct performance evaluations, set performance goals, recommend
professional development, and meet with direct reports on a regular
basis to review status of their professional and personal goals.
Manage operational budgets for visit and registration programming.
Prepare and maintain appropriate periodic/special operations reports and
surveys.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications –
Bachelor’s degree.
Three or more years of professional experience in admissions,
recruitment, new student programs, or related field.
Demonstrated experience in program planning.
Valid driver’s license.
Preferred Qualifications –
Master’s degree.
Training and supervision experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities –
Must be able to collaborate with multiple administrative and academic
offices across campus to coordinate a systematic recruitment effort.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Strong presentation and interpersonal communication skills.
Dynamic personality.
High-quality customer service skills.
Ability to work independently and as a part of a team.
Ability to maintain strong work ethic and handle high volume of work,
execute projects simultaneously, set priorities and meet deadlines.
Understanding and commitment to affirmative action in educational access
and employment.
Position involves lifting and moving heavy boxes of materials.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Banner, and Customer Relationship
Management systems.
Appointment Information
This is a 100% full-time Academic Professional position, appointed on a
12-month basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after the
close of the search. Salary is commensurate with experience. Work visa
sponsorship is not available for this position.
