Job Summary:
Reporting to the Payroll Manager, the Payroll Supervisor leads and coaches the Payroll Team in the day-to-day operations of the payroll department, ensuring our 50k+ employees in the United States and Canada are paid accurately and on-time, every time. You will promote best practices and technological advancements to ensure that your team is responsive, employs discipline in the areas of controls and accuracy, and is able to gain operational efficiencies wherever possible.
Job Responsibilities:
Supervise a team responsible for specific payroll functions, including hiring, scheduling, assigning and directing work, training, coaching, counseling, and performance reviews
Oversee the weekly/bi-weekly US and Canadian payroll cycle processing, ensuring that employees are paid accurately and on time, with the proper payroll deductions and taxation
Act as a primary payroll contact, working cross-functionally with other departments to discuss potential issues, escalations, impacts, and solutions as they relate to payroll processing
Oversees compliance with federal, state, and local payroll tax laws and wage laws
Participates on project teams to support department and company sponsored initiatives, providing necessary feedback, recommendations, and testing to ensure payroll controls are met
Analyze payroll challenges and required solutions and partner with the firm’s payroll processor to determine and implement necessary resolution measures;
Reviews team procedures to ensure resources are up to date, accurate and in compliance with Sarbanes Oxley controls. Analyzes resources to provide recommendations for improvements to Payroll Manager.
Responsible for identifying, designing, and implementing process improvements for assigned area.
Responsible for related PeopleSoft module(s), ensuring the integrity of data, proper security access for modules, and upgrades are properly implemented and functioning as designed
Other duties as assigned to support the general purpose of the position’s functions
Qualifications:
Required:
Multi entity, multi-state/provincial payroll process (US & Canada)
Strong supervisory and leadership ability
Full-cycle payroll processing and time entry
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including advanced knowledge of Excel
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
Must be attentive to detail and accuracy, and committed to excellence and quality
Strong analytical, research, and problem-solving skills required
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Able to present complex data in a simplified manner
Strong organizational skills
Handles pressure well, adjusts plans to meet change needs and acts on opportunities
Comfortable working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
Preferred:
Experience with PeopleSoft Payroll and Time & Labor
Experience with high-volume payroll processing
Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification or willing to study for exam and become certified
Basic SQL
The budgeted range starts at $60,000 – $73,450. Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience.
