Who are we looking for?
Flicks is Australia and New Zealand’s leading independent movie publication. We help people discover the best movies and series to watch, and show them where to watch it – be it in cinemas or streaming. We reach an audience 1.9 million users every month.
Our current products are flicks.co.nz and flicks.com.au and our iOS/Android app. We are currently in an exciting period of expansion, having recently launched in the UK (flicks.o.uk), and we’re looking for people to drive that growth.
Our head office is in Auckland. We are a team of 5 in New Zealand, 3 in Australia, and are backed by our extended family at Vista Group.

The role*
We are looking for our in-house marketing lead, tasked with driving user growth.
You’ll be working creatively with our leadership, editorial and sales teams, building on our relationships with our users, and exploring partnership opportunities.

You’ll create a plan – How do we maximise our marketing budget? Where do we spend that budget? We want you to take the lead and get things done – become a driving force behind our brand and marketing efforts, a key pillar in our user growth.
The things you’ll be doing

Planning and executing strategies to deliver user growth and engagement. You’ll be across all marketing efforts:

• Brand Marketing – Leading our brand efforts to grow awareness and user connections
• Performance Marketing – Lead all audience acquisition campaigns to generate App downloads and other conversion goals, such as convert users to our email products
• Publicity & Partnerships – Finding opportunities to partner with other media, brands and companies to expand our brand reach
• Social, Email & Omnichannel – Working with our Editorial team, developing and optimising our email, social media and omnichannel strategy

You’ll be managing the marketing budget and executing the strategy– working with our agency partners and the Vista Marketing team, to oversee the marketing plan in action. As well as getting it done yourself.

Bringing Insight – Figuring out what’s working, what sucks, what’s next. Finding opportunities and trends, ideating on ways to grow our brand awareness and establish partnerships.
Working with our leadership team on how marketing works with in step with our product development and roadmap.
The Audience Growth & Marketing Manager Role

Location: Auckland, Sydney or Melbourne. Work from home and hot desk at Vista Offices (Auckland CBD or Sydney).

Start date: ASAP
Hours: Full time. Fixed Term Contract (12 months)
