WEA Hiring for Functional Skills Tutor Job at Remote , UK Full Time

You will be required to plan, prepare and teach courses online (using Zoom/Teams and Canvas, the WEA`s virtual learning environment) and potentially face to face for adults within the WEA programme of work, as agreed with the appropriate Education Coordinator.

You will carry out the administrative tasks required in each programme area.

You will also provide appropriate student feedback and support and educational advice and information where necessary, and to create an appropriate and welcoming atmosphere for students.

• Manage course life-cycle; planning, delivering and reporting your online and face to face courses, using methods and materials appropriate to the student group and course content, collaborating with the Education Coordinator, class visitor or inspector when required;
• Prepare/adapt appropriate teaching materials on Canvas.
• Identify/assess the needs of students and, if necessary, adapt course content and delivery style to meet these needs.
• Comply with the WEA policy on Equality and Diversity so that all students are treated with respect and dignity in an environment in which a diversity of backgrounds and experience is valued.
• Discuss Learning Outcomes or Moderation Requirements with students as the course proceeds;
• Enable your students to participate in the WEA by affording time for distribution of any relevant notices or information
• Ensure a continued and robust evaluation of student learning.
• Offer advice on further learning and progression opportunities to students as required;
• Where appropriate, attend moderation meetings;
• Any other duty which, from time to time, may reasonably be required to meet the needs of the WEA and the funders and is within the remit of this post.

About you:

You will be a tutor with up to date working knowledge and experience of teaching Function Skills.

We are looking for tutors that have:

• A recognised teaching qualification (PGCE, DTLLS, Cert Ed or appropriate professional experience);
• Experience of delivering non-accredited and accredited courses;
• A good understanding of the Education Inspection Framework and RARPA and quality assurance processes;
• Excellent interpersonal and organisational skills;
• A desire to share and improve teaching practice.
• A desire to provide learners with a high quality learning experience to achieve their goals;
• A desire to contribute to the personal development of learners;
• A desire to promote Equality and Diversity, Safeguarding.

The successful candidate must be IT literate and will have some experience of teaching online. Training will be given in teaching using Zoom and Canvas which are the platforms used by the WEA.
