kW Mission Critical Engineering is currently initiating a search for a Security Designer (Specialist, Design Support) for our Troy, NY office.

Job Summary: As a Security Designer with us, you will you will collaborate, design/support the physical security design of video surveillance, access control, and intrusion detection for new builds, renovations, and upgrades to data centers across the US and abroad.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• As a Security Designer, assigns work activities and prepares schedules.
• Provide support to technical design team on tasks of high complexity.
• Produce accurate 2D drawings and 3D BIM Models.
• Prepare layouts, drawings, and detailed sketches.
• Perform designs in accordance with project standards and specifications.
• Provide direction to less experienced team members regarding design questions.
• Review 2D drawings and 3D BIM Models for accuracy.
• Develop strong internal client relationships.
• Prepare reports.
• Coordinate projects with other disciplines.
• Other duties as required by business needs.

Job Requirements

• HS Diploma
• 7+ years of technical engineering support, including Revit.
• Knowledge of multiple IP-based video and access control systems and manufacturers.
• Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
• Excellent interpersonal skills, teamwork, and communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to travel to project sites in the US.
• Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
