As the responsible stewards of public funds, the Department of Finance partners to ensure value for money in the delivery of programs and services for Yukoners. The Department of Finance serves as the territory’s statistical body and develops the territorial budget, corresponding supplementary budgets and Public Accounts for the territory. It is also responsible for negotiating, coordinating and representing Yukon on inter-governmental financial matters with other jurisdictions. In its capacity as a central agency, the department works with all areas of government in the creation of their annual departmental budgets and in processing operational accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions.

Within the Department of Finance, Corporate Services, the Financial Administration Unit ensures that departmental financial resources are suitable, well managed, and that accountability and good governance are built into all departmental decisions and processes. The Financial Administration Unit is instrumental in various Corporate Initiatives.
Working with the other Divisions within the Department, the Financial Administration unit ensure that:
Future departmental programs and initiatives are adequately resourced.
The departmental budget accurately reflects the financial resources required by the programs to deliver their objectives successfully.
Managers have the information they need at the time they need to make informed, financially responsible decisions.
Cashflows and assignments of financial resources occur in a controlled and accountable manner.
The Finance and Administrative Assistant supports the decision-making process of directors and managers by providing senior financial and administrative services to Corporate Services and is the primary point of contact for Financial Administration inquiries within the department of Finance. The position is also responsible for coordinating a variety of projects and provides administrative support to the ADM Management Board Secretariat and Budget.

Coursework in Business Administration, Office Administration or other related field
Experience providing administrative and financial support services in a client service environment, preferably in a government or large corporate environment
Experience working with clients and general public
Experience handling confidential information
Candidates who have education, training, and/or experience equivalent to the essential qualifications listed above may be equally considered.
