Yukon Government Looking for Midwifery Consultant at Whitehorse, YT Full Time

This competition will be used to fill a Term position through to March 31, 2024.

This is a unique and exciting opportunity to build a collaborative, evidence-based midwifery program in Yukon.

As a Midwifery Consultant you will be responsible for providing oversight for the planning, implementation, integration and evaluation of midwifery services across Yukon. This will include developing policies and protocols that will guide the provision of midwifery services in hospitals and in Yukoners’ homes – establishing a model of service delivery in Yukon that is in line with evidence-based midwifery practices.

As Midwifery Consultant you will rely on your keen ability to generate commitment to the program through building partnerships and consensus. You will you have the opportunity to work with stakeholders to develop a common vision for the implementation of midwifery services and provide leadership and support to ensure midwifery services become a viable option for births in Yukon.

Essential Qualifications

Bachelor degree, or certificate in the midwifery field.

Current registration in good standing as a Midwife with a Canadian regulatory authority.

Recently applied knowledge of evidence-based midwifery theory, practices and techniques, acquired through work experience in a government, or a publicly funded healthcare setting.

Experience researching and developing policies, procedures, and protocols within a health authority or government setting is considered an asset.

Experience designing, implementing and managing programs or projects within a health authority or government setting is considered an asset.

Ability to travel both within, and outside of the Territory, to engage with stakeholders and to attend conferences and workshops.
